And I ended up with a screw in my tire... oh well - glad I found it before heading out.
Calgary Rider really needs to answer his cell though (or perhaps we need the right number...) Antonio and I weren't sure what was going on.
Looks like good times though...

Ah... I see, I see says the blind man...
I didn't realize you were on the Mystical Magical Mystery Night - thought it was more coordinating meeting in the morning.
I should be good to go for next weekend!

Great day guys. Thanks for not letting loose too many 'Jeep' jokes :)
Anyone interested in seeing a wheeling thrip through the eyes of a 9 year photographer:

Thanks to everyone who came out for the wheeling on Sunday. We had 8 Toyotas and one Jeep, which is a fair size group, and since most of us wanted to head back early we just did a fairly short run, which turned out to be a lot of fun. Here are a few of my pics:

What is HDR? I still think the Mclean gravel pit would make an excellent 101 course venue as the photos show.

Hey Tarzan.
A High Dynamic Range (HDR) image represents the whole range of values of light reflected by a scene (picture)… from its deepest shadows to brightest highlights. The dynamic range of real-world scenes is often much higher than the dynamic range a digital camera can capture today. For this reason, a "single" photograph is considered Low Dynamic Range as the camera sensors can only capture partially the dynamic range of a scene. So, in order to create an HDR image, you will first need to take "several" exposures (pictures) of the scene then combine those photos within special software. After that, Tone-mapping with other software is required to create a realistic photo (kinda like an IMAX film) or a cool surreal photo (like Gery's Truck in this thread).
Wheeling (the trucks, mud/snow and landscape) can be the perfect scene for and HDR - Tone Mapped photo.

Hey Jeff,
Gorgeous photos; would love to "learn" from you I can drag my ass out to an excursion one day. Would you be willing to have a study? Haha... I shoot Canon and have an XTi with a couple lenses. Just looked at your website and noticed you work for Metafore too; that's our primary vendor. Our rep is Greg O'Brien... and I'm friends with Jeff Woodgate there. Know either of them?
Cheers,
Jer

Jer - totally. I'm always up for stuff like that. Let me know when you might have a free sat or sun and we'll head out. I'm pretty sure the XTI can "bracket". Take a look in your menu and or manual for "bracketing".
Yeah I know Greg and Jeff very well... work with them everyday. You're a SysAdmin eh? Where do you work?

Victor and I went out a few weekends ago to shoot his truck. I thought they turned out pretty good. (Maybe this should be in a different thread).

Jeff - Awesome; I really appreciate that! Do you usually "wheel" with the crew or just tag along with someone and take photos while you're out? I will definitely let you know when I'm available some weekend! I'll take a poke through my manual/menus and see what it says about bracketing.
I'm a SysAdmin at Gemini Corporation; Greg and Jeff are good guys. I don't deal much with Jeff anymore as Greg uses Andrew as his Inside Sales guy, but Jeff has a son in waterpolo, as is my son, so we see eachother quite frequently at the pool.
Talk to ya soon! Your newly posted shots are even more gorgeous!

I personally don't like HDR (at least 95% of them), they are always "too much" (i'm speaking in general)
the last picture with the hood sticker and mud is nice though.

Yeah, not everyone likes them... it's subjective - I'm ok with that. I personally like them when they are over processed like this... it's something different and fun. 99% of the time I follow the basic rules of photography and have for 20 years. Highly tone-mapped images like these give me a chance to break the rules : )

Lightroom... cool. I use Aperture myself. I've heard a lot of good things about Lightroom's non-dstructive controls.
