Anyone ever tried RE-Treads?
I know they are heavily used on transport trucks, never heard of them for light trucks though. well untill now

I looked at them .. a few guys in the US are using them on their 80 series rigs, and have stated that they are a very good deal. I see they have waiting lists for the popular sizes, so they must be doing something right!
Can't go wrong on the price, especially with the dollar looming ever closer to par.

seems like a good deal! Almost thinking that it might be worth picking up 5 and an old set of rims strictly for trail use...

Looks like a good alternative to the Green Diamond tires which are made the same way, but cost as much as regular brand new tires.
Might have to give these a try in a year or two when the BFG's give out. (Thanks again Will!)

re-treads are used on big-rigs but only on the drive and trailer wheels. Steer axle tires cannot be re-treads.. because low air pressure + heat makes the re-tread seperate on the highway. you know those chunks of rubber all over the highway in the summer? those are the re-caps flying off the tires.
trucks that haul dangerous goods are not allowed to run re-caps, even on their drive wheels.
I've seen LOTS of re-caps seperate and its not pretty.
so, for this reason, I would only consider those treadwright tires for off-road use only. I wouldnt want to chance those tires on the highway...especially on a vehicle with a high center of gravity to start with.
