Lol! Coming in from Smoke-a-Tokes today (Okotoks) I saw 6 people in the ditch. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly people forget how to drive over our few non-winter months.

A few years back (Circa '02) I tried to get to work during a particularly awful spring dump we had and only made it a few blocks from my house. I was in my '92 Nissan 240SX, so light weight, RWD, and no traction going up Heritage over Macleod. In all fairness to me, I had to stop because some guy in front of me was unsuccessfully trying to spin his way up the hill... I got out and pushed him but because I had to stop for him, I lost all momentum and I was fubar'd. Do ya think anyone helped me? Ha!

Anyway, phoned my roommate to come tow me out so he shows up with his "Big Red Rocket of Love"; a '79 Jimmy w/ a 6" lift and 35"'s. He towed me into the London Drugs parking lot and left me there and we proceeded to go play in the snow all day. We were featured on CBC Newsworld (National) where it showed us towing a city bus up Heritage past the YMCA. Good times... =) Plus I got out of work by calling in "stuck".

I pretty much paid for my 88 by doing 20$ recoveries during one of those nice april/may snowstorms :) Loved the winch that day :)

Great way to fund upgrades :D Especially in calgary! :D

I've heard there's liability issues... but - I hand em the cable - tell them to hook it up to wherever they feel appropriate, and let me know when to start pulling...

Suppose I should get a lawyer to do up a waiver like the towtruck guys eh? :)

I'm probably one of the few who believe it; but I tend to think winches need to be worked... It's those guys with the fancy leather warn covers who'll only use it when "they" need it - that always seem to have problems with their winches - those who use them on a more regular basis - those ones always seem to work :)

God I gotta get going on the 4runner swap - I could have made a mint this morning along stoney trail...

hmmn, maybe a way to justify getting a winch to my wife.
Love driving around the last two days going past other vehicles that can't go anywhere or stay in a straight line.
