WASHINGTON (AP) -- Toyota Motor Corp. said Tuesday it will recall 3.8 million vehicles in the United States, the company's largest-ever U.S. recall, to address problems with a removable floor mat that could cause accelerators to get stuck and lead to a crash.
The recall will affect 2007-2010 model year Toyota Camry, 2005-2010 Toyota Avalon, 2004-2009 Toyota Prius, 2005-2010 Tacoma, 2007-2010 Toyota Tundra, 2007-2010 Lexus ES350 and 2006-2010 Lexus IS250 and IS350.

Cool link freeze. Personally I've never had issue with this. In my '01 highlander I had the same clips mentioned, and never had trouble with the clips coming unhooked and mats moving forward. I even stacked winter mats on top of it. For 8 years, never a problem.
In my '06 2nd gen, the P.O. added velcro to the underside of the stock mats, so perhaps the hook thing described was an issue for him. Seems like a cheap and obvious fix to me. I've since stacked winter mats on top of the toyota mats, and again I haven't had an issue.
Seems like much ado about nothing to me.

from the link above
"According to Hanson, the design stems from the fact that floormats are an option across the Toyota lineup, and someone buying a car without them wouldn’t want a fixed stem protruding from the carpet."
Who buys a car without floor mats? it makes no sense... I think the hooks in the FJ are fixed to the seat mounts, I'm going to check mine in the morning.

yep, weathertech floor liners were among the first things i purchased for my taco (front and back).
They are expensive and totally worth it.
