Anyone know how to install 5100s front and back? I can supply beer for a night of modding.

Are you talking about 5100 shocks/coils front and rear shocks?

5100's for the rear will be simple. I can give you a hand with that no problem. the fronts however, well that will take some specialized tools. Are you running the stock coils? If you are intending to compress the coils and install the 5100's, I would recommend using a wall mounted spring compressor.

I have heard some horror stories of people getting hurt with regular spring compressors, and our stock springs are actually quite beefy. My buddy did an 5100 install on a 07 Tacoma and the spring came loose and shot across his shop. Luckily nobody was hurt. That's when he got a wall mounted compressor.

You can remove the assembly yourself, bring them to a shop, and get them swapped out for a decent price.

This guy did a great writeup on the 5100 install. Looks like he used a rental spring compressor. Didn't take his head off, so I would call it a success.

Keeping the stock springs for now. I'm mechanically inclined for oil changes, filters and wheel rotating/repairs. I have no problem lending a hand and getting dirty, but enthusiasm is no replacement for experience. (Especially seeing as I drained my tranny the first time I did my oil change on my Taco)

Currently I'm in Rimbey Alberta. 4 on 4 off. But when I'm in Calgary I'm in Discovery Ridge south of Westhills.

But don't worry, Beer can come to you!

Like Tacorossa said... get your spring compressed and installed at a shop... otherwise using a spring compressor at home is a scary experience!

Anyone know how much it'd cost? Cause then I'd have to get them installed entirely at the shop due to using the same springs that are currently on the truck.

Not necessarily. You can cart to the shop your current spring/shock combination with your 5100's, and leave your truck hanging in your garage for a few hours. Then install your newly assembles spring/5100 combination.

Not sure how much it costs to do a swap, or complete install, but your answer is only a phone call away! Like I said previously, my buddy recently installed a wall mounted spring compressor at his shop, give him a call and see how much he costs...

I agree, if you make an arangement to have the springs done while you wait ... it should be no problem to set the front of your truck on some jack stands. The front is an amazingly fast swap. Just remember to get an alignment done the moment your done with everything.

Could do. When I'm back in Cow Town I don't need my vehicle as much, but again, I'm 4 on 4 off. When it's back on I'd need my vehicle.
