We kinda talked about this at the last meeting. There are people who've wheeled for a long time and people who've just gotten into the sport.
Perhaps we'd put on a educational wheeling course for a really low fee that would teach the basics of wheeling, winching, trail etiquette and Treading Lightly.
I believe a day like this would be great to have everyone on the same page so we all abide by the same values and etiquette.
Who'd be in for a Wheeling Course?

Gold star http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_cheers.png and.....
Kinda like an official course. Something that would run every two months so the new guys to the Association would go through a course to get them inline with the similar techniques we'd use. (Spotter signals, Winching safety, Trail Etiquette, etc...)

Awesome... we'll plan this out at the next meeting since there is interest. I think perhaps we'd use this course for new members of CT4WD as an intro to the Association and make sure we're all on the same page.

I suggest we use he gravel pit at Mclean to hold this course as it has everything needed to design a course. Once the course/class is done we coud run the easy way to the falls for lunch and then those who want to try more can split off after the others are guided out safely.

Boo ... not qualified. I might go up to Edmonton and try this course out though.

It's a bit pricey but ... sounds kinda fun too.

I would be up for some sort of a beginners course. I like the idea of setting something up at Maclean Creek. If the price is decent, count me in.
My wife and I just had our first baby about a week ago, and he is keeping me on a budget

First: THANKS!
Second: You're probably right. This is my fist 4x4 truck. I've done some offroading at Maclean Creek in the past, but in my buddies purpose built 79 GMC Sierra. Not quite the same as I should probably learn the finer details on how to keep my daily driver in good condition. I also do a substantial amount of offroading as a part of my job, but again, not in my truck. I wouldn't be as careful in a company truck as I would in my own right?

We have been working pretty hard on a really good course and I think most will be surprised!
The Introductory Course and 101 Course will have a great deal of information regarding how to use your vehicle, the basics of Off-Road techniques, the basics or recovery techniques, trail etiquette, spotting techniques, and Tread Lightly!..... just to name a few.
The intro course is mandatory for all members if they are to participate in the Trail Runs, however the 101 course is highly recommended.

No worries, you'll still be able to run the June Run. We're just in the process of nailing down the calendar for the intro courses. We'll have these dates this week.
