View Full Version : Help with new wheels

So I've posted this on another forum, but can't hurt to put it here too for some local help.

If the other dudes in line for Nathan's procomps get there before I do I might need to go about buying some new ones. That being said, I have no idea where in Calgary or even Canada to get them other than Ebay.

So in my search for new tires, if the price is right, I may just forgo getting spacers and just buy new wheels after all anyways. I know *expletive deleted* all about after market wheels. All I know is that to clear 285's I'll need a 16x? with 0 to -12 offset and 4.5" backspacing.

Can I get 0 off set to clear the UACs? Will I be needing to shave my calipers down to get them to fit? They have 16x8 or 16x9 tires. I'm presuming that's how wide the rim actually is where the tire is seated on there. Will that inch make a difference when I get tires? Or will the tires fit regardless?

I don't really go for the bling bling tires. Here are a few I found that I don't mind. If anyone else has any recommendations for brands of wheels I'd be more than happy to hear you out. Just so long as they aren't $400 a wheel. Honestly, I don't really want to spend more than $900 for wheels at all.
If I have -12 versus 0 offset will that make it less likely to rub?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I find Tirerack to be a bit cheaper, I got mine from them for $900 including everything. Also sometimes they got clearance on wheels and tires. You might wanna check it out while our dollar is higher...goodluck and have fun shopping...

They sure do ... they also calculate the brokerage costs of shipping UPS. That way there are no extra charge suprises when it gets to your door.

I bought my Pro Comp 7089's from Modern Motors. They're a 16x8, 0 offset, with 4.5 or 4.0 backspacing. (can't remember!) No rubbing on calipers what so ever.

Now, I did visit National for the same wheel. I also looked into a place out East, but holy moly, they wanted to charge soooo much for shipping plus at the time, it would of been a 3 week wait. Modern had them to me in 3 days.

I think if you really poke around, you'll be able to get a great deal on them. Your budget of $900.00 is reasonable.

Good luck!

Sweet, thank you for the heads up on that one too. The more the merrier. I'll check out Modern Motors too.

One more place to try: NSOR.com, check in with Wil (he's a member on this board actually).
Wil does an AWESOME business.

Haven't dealt with Tirerack yet, but with their competition (Discount Tire Direct - http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/home.do ) a few times and can say that I've only had the best of the best experiences with them. Check them out too.

I've dealt with Discount Tire directly in Spokane a couple times and they were great. Never dealt with Discount Tire Direct online though. Their prices are just as good if not better on their website, and they have free shipping in the states. May be worth while to get 'em shipped to sweetgrass.

I'm curious to know if the "Out the door price" is actually all inclussive like Tire Rack is. Does Discount's price with tarrif include brokerage?

Yep, last time I got tires from them I didn't pay any brokerage, taxes or anything. They just dropped 'em off.
