Jacked Up

well get the popcorn, get settled in, or at least if you are at work, put the phone on do not disturbed... here comes a rant, a story and a little lesson in sore asses, and why vaseline is always a good thing!!
So I purchased a new 2009 Dodge Challenger (and yes I know "that was my first mistake" hahah) so I bought this car in Nov 2008. Was so excited after a 3week delay started this whole mess off. Drove her off the lot and headed home as excited as a kid 10ft deep in xmas presents..... my fiance'/wife whatever we get a few blocks away from home and the car starts to shake and idle rough, I pulled over and turned the car off, restarted the car and teh car idled normal and away we went. Now having worked at dealerships I chalked it up to maybe moisture in the engine and it being colder then and icecube on dry ice. It may have been from the detailing. So the car goes in the next day to the dealership to have a look over. Well 4 hrs later, no problem found, cannot duplicate, although the service lady had a nice joyride with her friend in it to McDonalds and to the mall etc...
So the car does this little shake thing again, and again another visit to the dealership for a diagnosis. No problem found, no fault code, no check engine light. So the car does this a few more times over the holidays etc. So Jan roll saround and the dealership calls and says... we can;t find the issue, I picke dthe car up after work and immediately turned around on Deerfoot and limped the car back at 50kms, hazards a flashin into eth service bay at the dealership and immediatley get out and popped the hood and the tech comes out and gets all pissy at the service writer and in haste says " I F&*^&n told you guys, thsi car has a problem....." and storms off, well 2 days the car stayed there with no cure to the problem other than being told, we're gonna throw a bunch of parts at it and see what sticks.... and a new PCM was installed, I drive the car away and the problem happens again.
ok so after 14 visits to 3 dealerships, a PCM, a TCB for cam shaft positioning sensor shims that was for earlier builds is applied they THINK they have solved it. Well Jun 2 rolls around and wham I'm on my way into town and the car starts up again. I pull off of the highway and restart the car, get up to highway speeds and it does it again, this time the radio goes off, the engine shuts off and I'm now coasting at 70kms towards the back end of an 18wheeler truck, so with what little streering and braking I had I managed to swing it into the oncoming lane and went into the ditch.
The car is nose down in teh ditch ontop of a large rock and well there is no way this car is getting out on it's own power, so a passer by sees this and calls police, they attend and determine I wasn't speedingor screwing around and I'm ok.... the car gets towed to Varsity. I call my insurance and give them the info and the next morning et informed that due to the cars history of the misfires, my insurance is denying my claim, and that Chrysler needs to deal with this at a warranty level. Ok so I call Chrysler warranty and explain the situation, well right off the bat they point fingers at insurance. So now it's a fight to see who is on the hook for repairs... a $7500 estimate and the Ins. co and Chrysler are at a stalemate to see who's gonna fix what first. Well it's been almost 3 mos, and I still have no car, and I am now out of pocket $5000 in repairs.
Now the dealership where i had teh car towed to wouldn't help, so it went to my purchasing dealership and was fixed there. The dealer GM comes back with an offer to buy my car back, but at a substantial loss... this is where I start to shake in anger.... so I bought the car for $32,000 cash outright, no loan, no lean, and they are offering me $22,500 for it, and the kicker is that I HAVE to send the money on another Chrysler product..... so after fighting for what I think should have been offered ($26,000) taking into consideration depretiation. So I order another Challenger (2010) same car, with the intention to sell it ASAP, and learn that I will now have to pay another $8900 ontop of the $5000 for repairs for the difference of the 2 cars, so at this point I'm out $13,000 on a $32,000 car I have driven for all of 8mos, 3 of which was it sitting at dealerships.
And the best part is Chyrlser refuses to assist me in even reducing some of the cost on the new car just to help out, or restore faith in their company. Oh and lawyer is not going to be a help, I'd lose more in costs than what I would get back if I won a judgement. Both AMVIC and CAMVAP have both stated this should have been addressed at warranty level. Best part is becuase Chrysler refuses to put into writing that the mechanical issue will be resolved my insurance co has cancelled my policy on th ecar and marked it as a mechanical liability... which means I know have a $32,000 POS that is in operable, and uninsurable in Canada. Wow I love Chrysler..... 5star customer service my ass.
Hence why the FJ is getting all my love and attention now.....
sorry, had to rant, literally just git off the phone with call #64 to Chyslers award winning customer service line... I'm not going away and I'm not taking 'no' for an answer, I have told them I will decal this car and tote it around the city to events and dealerships advising that Chrysler sold me a lemon.
well I hope that was enlightening. it killed an hour out of my day hahaha
