So since I'm focussing some time and energry into eth FJ, I would like to get a good feel for what is REALLY needed out on minor / Beginner - Intermediate courses. I have a lift kit (2.5"), Medic Bag (I carry all the time), tow rope, tie downs,
I am looking for frint OEM skidplate, better rubber than the stock, I'm ordering the Danbi CB antenna mount and getting a CB, Brushgaurd, and fog lights. And a d-ring trailer hitch
any other pieces I need?

The nice thing about Toyotas ... they are super capable right off the line. You're already set to do the courses. Plus ... the intro course is classroom based, you don't even need a truck!

At the beginning it's good solid recovery points to the frame with either a good winch front bumper and a good metal rear bumper. This should have some sort of receiver or D-Shackle holes to accept a 3/4" Pin type.
The other is armour, skid plate in the front, e-locker skid plate, and transfer case skid and eventually lower link skid for the rear lower links.
If you already have a bit of a lift, you can start looking into getting tires that will provide a little more traction that stock.

Rubber is getting sourced out, should be here next week, decent lugs on the tread, better traction than the all season the factory throws on,
next is skid plates
we're getting there, slowly but surely

You absolutely need a set of rear extended length Bilstein shocks to go with that lift! :D
Check THESE (http://forum.ct4wd.com/showthread.php?t=246) out... great seller from what I hear, and a great price!
