I had a similar problem and took it back to Heninger (dealer) they didn't even ask any questions and just replaced my front diff. I think I only had 20,000 on the Tacoma.
I all told them was... I hear bearing noise from the front end.

Let us know how that works out for you. I'm interested in seeing if removing the lift does anything other than magnify an existing problem?

I'm willing to bet it'll still be there and you're prob right as I think the same but having a dumb dealer I won't get looked at warranty wise with a lifted/modded truck. This is very frustrating. I love the truck the way it is but I hate the vibe I'm getting .. I'm rotted and trying to convince myself it will look good.

I have grown a hate for these second Gen trucks. They are throw away vehicles built for the mentality of the North American market. I'm just stuck with it thats all. Should have bought a first gen.

Yeah, but they sure are pretty!! I love the first gens. Should have bought one when I had a chance.
But getting back to the problem at hand... if you are going back to stock, what are you going to do with your lift parts? I'll meet you in Toronto if you want to do some trading :). I want to get my hands on a set of rims like yours.

I've got 48xxxkms on my truck and the only problem I've had is it's a magnet for parking lot accidents. But it's held up like a champ.

106000km's
-2 sets of wheel bearings
-2 upper control arms because you can't buy just ball joints
-2 axle seals
-1 front crank seal
-rear brakes completely piled up after setting the ebrake to park on a hill
-think my rear crank seal is leaking
-another axle seal is leaking
-rear pinion seal is leaking
Other than that great...
Oh I wheel my truck but avoid mud like the plague when I can.

Basically, if it wasn't for the seals it wouldn't be too bad!

Yeah wheel bearings are expensive when they take out the $300+ dollar ABS sensor and caliper. I didn't list that stuff because its wheelbearing related.

I'm at 70k KM and I've got:
1 Wheel Bearing (Due to metal dust shield on CV not put back on from National)
1 Front Diff (Warrantied)
1 Steering Rack (Warrantied)
Did they ever figure out what was up with your Tacoma?

Didn't take it in yet. I have to make it stock again before I do and its taking me a while to make that switch. I have a local with the same truck who wants my set-up for his stock stuff .. but side by side I can't deal with a stock taco's look after lifting.

I really hope the dealer isn't making you switch all your stuff over. They really have to provide solid proof that the lift you have is causing driveline issues. If your CV boot fins aren't rubbing and geometry is within spec... I don't think they have too much to come after you for. If worst comes to worst... drop your front end down a bit and get it re-aligned.
Have a good sit down with the General Service Manager and explain your situation in a very respectful manor. If he's not co-operating explain that your truck is identical in the front to a TRD Off-Road which in terms ask the question, if they are selling an Off-Road branded truck does this dealer walk the talk or is just about talking the talk?

that would be like talking to a wall .. they are USELESS here. It's pretty frustrating too I had decent plans for my 09 and considered the 5100's to be a minor stepping stone

so iv been having the same issue of the common "lift noise" for the taco's, iv been messing around with it and researching like crazy tryin to figure out anyway to fix it. I took the truck into charslgen toyota, they spent almost three hours checkin out the vibration. they took out the front drive shaft, inspected all the u-joints and bearings. after all that they came back to tell me its "lift noise". i was alittle ticked cause i kno its lift noise.. but i wanna kno whats causing it and why isn't there any way to fix it? they told me its front or rear drive shaft vibrations cause from the lift but its not causing any damages.
the lift i put in was a minor 2.25 readylift. the front diff spacer was installed as well as 1" rear blocks. i started trouble shooting to try and fix it.
i took the rear blocks out of the back to bring the rear drive shaft back to the stock angle. i also added rubber washers to the carrier bearing mount to see if that absorbs some of the vibrations. didn;t fix anything, tried removing the front diff spacer out and that helped alot but the vibrations where still there, just not as noisy. the next step is to completly remove the lift and see if its still there... which im not goin to doo cause iv got 33" tires that need to fit on the truck haha
so untill someone figures out what is ecaclty causing it... just somethin i gotta live with.
