Looks like I need to replace an Axle seal on my front diff. About a month ago I replaced the gear oil and I just had to top it up (ie. fill it ... 'cause it was almost empty). It looks like it is coming out of the seal on the passenger side. Anyone have any experience changing an axle seal out?

It shouldn't be that hard. From what I remember you just have to pound out the axle from the housing and replace the seal on the CV. It looks like a regular seal with a metal lip on it to protect the rubber from dirt. I haven't done the seal on the Tacoma yet but will have to replace them as the metal lip got a little damaged from the CV/Axle changeover.

My god. I just talked to Charlesglen Toyota about doing the axle seal. 445 parts and labour.
I call Heninger about just the axle seal it self. $22.88 part ... unbelievable.

I think the NOK seals (OEM) are $18-20USD online inc. shipping.

Funny Henninger gave me a price on just the wheel bearing parts $300 or so, called country hills and they wouldnt even sell just the bearing parts, hub assembly only! $890 parts only and $1163 installed!!
These dealers are all over the place?!?!?

I now own a seal. Just need to install it. Kinda like my winch. Need to get around to it sooner than later I suppose.
