The iPhone kicks ass. If you can, get the "3g s". Not only will you not regret not getting the latest version, it has the added bonus of making the rest of us jealous.
Sent from my iPhone. Only the 3G model. :(

I use a blackberry.
In my opinion if you play with your phone the iPhone is a lot better, but the blackberry is a work machine and it's really meant to be used for work (especially when you are on a Blackberry Enterprise Server at work)
Being in school, I would recommend the iPhone. The question is, do you really need everything it does hehe.

What do extras do you get by having a blackberry server?
iPhone biggest advantage is that it's also an iPod Touch (with GPS). I use mine for work and I am fully synced with my company's exchange server (push mail, exchange contact database, push calendar).
I hear blackberry messenger is pretty cool but I haven't tried it. Plus blackberry is Canadian and that's cool

The iPhone is where it's at works great everywhere enough said :) and if you get the iPhone now I think you get the same deal I did when I got mine, 6 Gigabytes of data for 30$/month....I've never come close to using that amount but atleast I have it.

blackberry syncs with the enterprise server/outlook (i.e. meetings, address book, sent emails, received emails, etc. It also looks up the GAL for your company.
Tethering is possible on blackberry (which wasn't before the new 3Gs) as well as cut/paste, video, etc. all those are now possible with 3Gs but it is impossible to work without cut/paste for email stuff hehe.
the rest is the same, I have GPS with maps (google or blackberry maps), music, etc. But for media, the iPhone is way better with the larger screen (although haven't tried the blackberry storm)
I prefer typing on a button keyboard, and that's the main reason I would not use an iPhone. I tried one and just can't type fast enough... plus I can't type if I don't look the screen, which is not as safe as typing with one finger ont he blackberry using the key "feel"

Thats what i was thinking, is it more of a want... or a need?
Because im phoneless right now due to my bad luck with crushing phones with my truck.. So, i figure a iphone would be a perfect candidate. Couple nights ago i got a 32g itouch and im in love with it.. thats what makes me want to get a iphone even more.

I used to have a blackberry but the cost of using it was killing me as I'm constantly getting a data or news feed. The iPhone is great for what I do, I'm also able to use remote access to my desktop PC and view charts and access the trading desk. It allows me to view all 4 monitors and zoom/pan just like in mobile safari.
As for a workhorse, it depends how you use it. I really like how with mobile me, I am able to keep all my computers and iPhone synched with my address book and calendar. One update with any of the computers and all the computers and phone are immediately updated no matter if it's Apple or PC.
For emailing, trading, word doc/excel edits, and accessing a real computer through the cel network the iPhone really has a leg up on my blackberry.
It took a while but now I'm able to type on the iPhone way faster than the blackberry.. just takes practice.

Roger's didn't have the 6gig data plan at the time I had the blackberry. It was a pretty lame plan at the time as they wanted a huge amount for 100mb/month.
