ticking sound

I know this is gonna sound crazy but I have never heard this ticking!

I came to a Taco from a 2001 highlander with a 1mz-fe 3L v6 with vvti which also was pretty "ticky" or tap-happy....

I think I have just come to ignore it or even associate it with a normal sounding engine. haha!

edit: and holy cow does that guy ever have a muddy engine bay. yeesh how does he sleep at night
