I guess you're looking for a tow rig ahaha

You don't need a super built truck. There are bypasses to all the tough sections. Lake Tahoe is amazing!! Toyota Mecca... I've seen so many nice older gen toyota's... most of them sporting a MC sticker!

I'm going to try to make the three day drive (slow truck) on 22r power alone. Just seeing if anyone's up for a little clean up with Marlin. If the 81 is looking a little sketch for the drive I may take the Tacoma.

All-Pro may also be attending the clean up with MC

I'm interested but the work schedule is such that I don't know if I'm working the weekend or not right now (I'm working this weekend for instance). Just so I have an idea of time though, 3 days down, the weekend & then 3 days back?

I've been a lot in Lake Tahoe, on skis and on a boat, but never off road. That could be very interesting.

I'm still unsure of my schedule as I'm leaving for 2 months end of october.

if it wasn't that I'm leaving 2 months for the sailboat trip I'd be all over it.. although I would need way more on the truck before doing this trail

Registration is still open, however, early bird draw is closed. I'm thinking Leave early on the 9th and drive 2 days straight to South lake tahoe. Wheel the three days and drive two days back.

I'm hoping the RTT from campinglab.com comes in time!

I'm still undecided and don't see a deadline for registration. Looks like we can register till the last minute? This is a conflict with the Offroad expo, though. Haven't missed that for years.

As far as I can tell from the list of those registered ... We would be the newest Toyotas there. We have to go!

I was thinking we'd camp or motel it on the way down. I'm hoping to have the RTT by then so I could just open the tent and sleep on the way down. If I don't have the RTT I'll be motel'ing it.

Yep, just faxed mine in and followed up with a phone call. They said I'm A OK! Registration is officially closed, though, so those of you who are going should do so ASAP.

I will be going solo and so therefore will have an empty seat for a single lady if anyone know a friend who know a friend who might know of someone :)

I faxed mine in yesterday as well. I followed it up with a phone call ... at the time the dude said no go. :(

Yeah, I asked the dude if they are going to sent out some confirmation of my registration, and he said no just as long as you show up at the Springs on Friday, you're good to go, cuz we have your registration, so I don't think they care too, too much. It's an open trail anyways, and I'm sure there are going to be other groups running the trail that same weekend. It's not as if Marlin can book off the Con just for himself for a whole weekend. You might be out a T-shirt, though.

Etienne, if you're going to drive that far, you might as well just wheel with us. Put your registration in, and if you keep your job, you won't feel the $50.00 in registration. :)

It's a win-win situation. If you loose your job, you win because you get to do the 'Con. If you keep your job, you win, but maybe not as much.

Ohh Gary.. you are the voice of reason and wisdom!

I think we should haul down there and check out Lake Tahoe. That would give our bums a little bit of time to rest before we spend another 3 days in our trucks.

Doc is Elaine coming? Gary are you bringing Matthew and the gang? or anyone from the Pig and Stump Pub?

haha.... Doc filled me in on that one! haha..... just pin'er!!

Etienne... stock jeeps and toyota's go through the Rubicon. It's a matter of what line you choose and taking the by-passes. All you really need is armor.

I mean if these guys can go through the Rubicon.....

Again it's all driver skill... you could have the most built truck and still suck at going through the trail. I've seen photo's of stock Jeep Willy's back in the day going through the trail.

you need to have a beer (they have their own) at the Genoa bar in Genoa, NV

and put "I love this bar" by Toby Keith on the old jukebox.

-I have ran Con when my truck was still IFS with a semi working rear locker - It's def doable. Just little more stressful.. :)

hey I have a great idea to help fill in a bog that was mentioned earlier, i will gladly donate my POS Dodge Challenger as a filler for the bog, to ensure safe passage for all offroaders to pass over the swampy guk with ease. At least it will be the only thing that car woill be good for, well that and collecting rust..... but I'd love to drag it out through the bush to it's final resting place.

Hey, I found some info on the web stating that the US does not allow any beef whatsoever from Canadian travelers. Sounds like pork and chicken is OK. They don't seem to want any fresh fruits either, so I'm just going to do all my grocery shopping there.

you can take beef if it's cooked.

also, fruits you can if they are from Canada or the US, so no bananas or the likes.

This is an ordeal my Mom gets into all the time. She tries to bring apples with her on the plane when traveling and they give her a real hard time. The border guys sometimes want to see the stickers on all the fruit saying where the fruit is from, sometimes they just don't care and sometimes they feel like they are protecting the US from terrorist produce by not letting my Mother take an apple on a plane.

Bottom line is that if the border guy wants to be a :):):):):):). He can be a :):):):):):) and it is not worth fighting about it. However, I believe what Etienne said is completely accurate.

The regulations tend to change, but the latest I could find what this:

Cooked and raw poultry is permitted from Canada except from the province of Saskatchewan. However, to bring poultry products from any province in Canada into the United States, you must have proof of the origin of the poultry. For example, proof of origin would be the grocery stores receipt where the product was purchased, or the label on the product indicates the province in which it was packaged

Fish, if it is for your personal use, is generally admissible.

Condiments such as oil, vinegar, mustard, catsup, pickles, syrup, honey, jelly, jam, etc., are generally admissible.

Fruits and vegetables grown in Canada are generally admissible, if they have labels identifying them as products of Canada. Fruits and vegetables merely purchased in Canada are not necessarily admissible, ie. citrus or tropical fruits such as mangos, which clearly were not grown in Canada because it does not have a climate that supports those crops. (Potatoes from western regions of Canada are currently restricted because of a disease outbreak. While commercial imports are permitted under stringent guidelines, travelers from Canada should avoid bringing raw potatoes with them into the US).

The Department of Agriculture has recently relaxed rules for travelers arriving from Canada with food products involving some meat products. Beef and game products are now allowed entry. This includes frozen, cooked, canned or otherwise processed beef, veal, venison, elk, bison, etc. Hunter harvested game, including deer, moose, wild sheep, goats and bison is admissible from Canada for the traveler's personal use if accompanied with a hunting license, tag or equivalent. permit. Meat products from domestic lamb, sheep and goats is still prohibited entry from Canada.

and this is the master list that dictates what can be banned or not, currently Canada is free of everything. If there is another mad cow outbreak, then Canada will show up on affected list and then it will get banned
