So after all the fighting i did to get my clutch swapped out for the new one, the problem came back
So whats the problem you ask?? Any time i let my truck idel for more then 5 to 10 mins, i get in and start to drive. Next thing i know my clutch starts to slip (bad), through all gears until i can get going at a good speed, then its fine again till the next time i let it sit and idel. Because i use the truck for work as well as play, i spend alot of time sitting at gas wells while im doing my checks. If i come to a well and turn the truck off while i check the well, then 10 mins later a start the truck up, everything is fine. But if i leave it running for the 10 mins the freakin clutch starts slipping again when i drive away. Weird eh. Oh yea, when i pulled the old clutch out it was still brand new, the pressure plate had wear marks from the release bearing, the flywheel looked like it had just been ressurefaced. This sucks, im not pulling that dam tranny again till that clutch turns to dust.

Anyone got any thoughts as to what the problem might be???

Did you notice any oil in the bell-housing?

Zero, i lubed up the fork and release bearing like your supose to. Its like the clutch isn't fully engauging. But why would it only do it when the truck sits and idels??

Could be an issue with an air bubble in the hydraulics - give it a good bleed (just like doing your brakes). See where you sit after that...

I bled it real good before and after i put the new clutch in. I might have a sticky slave cylinder.

The adjuster under the dash for the clutch pedal is set properly too?

The adjuster looks good. Its just so weird that it will only slip after it has been sitting, running for a while. Maybe something is heating up?? Im lost on this one. Today so far at work it has not slipped once, cause i have shut it off every time i have stopped today.

I'm sticking with air bubble in the system - vibrations will help move it up; explains pretty much all the symptoms you're describing... Dealt with a very similar problem on an old toyota I owned once upon a time (can't remember if it was the tercel, starlet or one of the tercel wagons) - seem to recall there it was a bad fitting at the hard line connection to the slave cylinder... No apparent leak - but it was enough to keep letting air enter the system...

Heat soak shouldn't affect brake fluid - heat would have to be well over 1200 degrees to really have an effect; not temperatures you'd find at idle... Perhaps in a diesel working hard with a clutch line running directly adjacent to a turbo/manifold...

Id replace the mc

Andyl, I'll try and bleed it again. If that don't work i'll replace the slave, then the master, than very last all the lines. It works great if if just shut the truck off instead of letting it run. So im not in a big rush.

Something about all of this does not make sense. The master, the slave and the lines all work to release the clutch and if they failed you would have a hard time shifting but the clutch would not slip. For the hydraulic system to fail in the manner described it would have to be holding the clutch partially released and that slipping should show on the flywheel. Very odd indeed.

Any chance it could be in the tranny or transfer case

Is your clutch working good?
