So, just got back from a ridiculous solo attempt at the plane crash trail in the crowsnest pass. After dark.
A few things; One - the trail is more technical than the rides we've been doin at MacLean or Waiparous. Two - because of this it is not a good idea to go alone. Three - even worse at night.
I have to say though that this area is awesome. We will have to wheel down here more. I will post more pics and details next week when I get home from working in the pass. Too hard to write or even check in regularly on the iPhone

Yeah it's gotten more technical over the years. I took my Tacoma through it last year without sliders or bumper. The bridge bypass is a gnarly start with a super tight section and a pretty good work out on the suspension (for an IFS!) The one drop I dragged my frame over the drop off and nailed my trailer hitch. That's where I melted my rear fender flare with the tailpipe. Went around the massive holes in the tightest section possible. Coming back I just couldn't get the line right cause it started to rain and I couldn't get grip on the side hill to nail the line.
I thought I was screwed for sure. Last attempt I was trying to get my tire on the tree but didn't see this other little stump as it was just infront of the bumper... well... that was the reason behind getting the All-Pro bumper cause I dented the stock one pretty good on the stump. I finally got the line right and squeeked through with less than half inch on each side of the truck.... especially with a brand new topper it's a bit nerve racking.
The one really short steep hill climb after the river bank that's broken off is really tight and rocky with roots sticking out. I was barely narrow enough to get up there. Once you get past those two spots you're good the rest isn't too bad after that. Just a narrow climb to the top. The top opens up and looks like a park.
It's really short trail run but a fun one. Potential for some serious body damage if you're not on line in the hill climbs.
How far did you end up going? It would be an awesome night run especially getting to the top with the airplane pieces under a full moon!
How was it traveling solo for you?

I enjoyed the pass a lot. The trail to the plane crash is pretty awesome. I feel bad missing out at a second go at it.
I took all my photos from this trip on my iPhone. They released new firmware for the phone and when I upgraded my backup was messed up. I lost all of the photos. It was at night and the photos were pretty bad anyways. Next time.
Hopefully the boys post a couple photos from their trip.

Soooo ... after fighting the iPhone for a bit, I was able to retrieve some of the things from my backup. After manually shoving the backup down the iPhones throat sideways that is.
Here are a couple pics ...
A giant rock I almost crashed into ... twice. Once on the way up and again on the way down.

The pit that defeated me. I need to get my winch installed and I need mudders.

More Photos. (http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=118620&id=77904893277) Might as well become a fan at the same time.
