Admin/BeachBoy ATTN: Sticky?
I would like to propose we start a list of some of the Hot destinations/trails that people love to go to, wheel at, camp at, fish at etc...
Links, pics, etc are all welcomed!
Proposed Format:
Title of Location in BOLD
Breif description including things like: can be done in a day from Calgary...2 days travel from Calgary....attractions...facilities....trail rating.....gravel travel...expected weather patterns...all season, or summer only etc
URLS and photos to support why it's KEWL...er...HAWT...er...
Purpose of this sticky:
The next time you're trying to figure out what to do on your next holiday, expedition etc, use this as a reference!
I'll start with a few destinations in the next post...to give a feel for it.

Distination Name: Whipsaw, Princeton BC
Description: A trail easily done by most stock vehicles, season pending. This is a SEASONAL trail, only being passable in late spring, summer, and early fall. Plan for snow 12 months of the year, with 10'+ possible in winter.
The trail, done at a comfortable pace, takes 2-3 days to complete. Alpine meadows and lakes galore, as well as mining and trapping structures make for a "step back in time" feel to your excursion. Trail rating 3+, depending on weather.

Very nice Keith! Love the wedding/Honeymoon destination.
Destination Name: Airplane Crash - Crowsnest Pass
Description: 3 hours from Calgary on the #3 South. A relatively short trail with some nice hill climbs and at the end incredible pieces of a downed airplane from almost 60 years ago. This trail is 1-6 on the trail difficulty rating.

I don't have any images of the trail as the last time it was pretty difficult to take pictures and wheel. Before this last trip, no one owned a digital camera or even thought about taking pictures on the trail!

This is an area that I've been talking about for 10+ years...OMG, am I that old?
Tougher trails containing a lot of water, greasy slick roots, rocks. Wow.

So, are there still plans to do this trip this year? If so, I was wondering when that will be since I can't find any info on this. I would also like to suggest that if we go to the Whipsaw which is a fair drive from Calgary, that we add a few more trails to the agenda to make the long trip a bit more worthwhile. I know many of the trails in the Okanagan valley and could guide some of them, e.g.
1. Hayman lake : http://image02.webshots.com/2/7/11/73/82071173ToAinJ_fs.jpg
(Overlooking Lake Okanagan from Hayman Lake)
2. Chain Lakes trail
3. Greystokes mountain, etc.
Description: All these trails are withing 1/2 from Kelowna and are rated for stockers

There are certainly plans to do this run. Last year the run was held in July and the current calendar does not have any multi day run planned for July. We have an internal meeting this week and we'll be talking about some of the upcoming trips. We'll get this clarified as soon as possible so that people can book off some time from work.
Thanks for the offer to run some trails. I'd certainly be interested, even if it doesn't make it into the official agenda.
PS - When are the Nissan boys heading down to Moab and are you headin' down with 'em?

Hi Doc, Gone Moab is the week of May 23-27 this year. I'm pretty much commited to this trip, however, I ordered my Turbo diesel, and they just told me there was a bit of a delay in shipping it. So it won't ship until March 12th, and my guess is that it will take a good 6 weeks to get here from Thailand, which is not leaving me with much time to get the engine and tranny swap done. So, when this arrives, I'm going to be faced with either starting the swap and run the risk of not finishing it on time, or wait till after the trip, but waste at least $370 in gasoline, based on the mileage difference between the two motors. So, we'll see.

There are a few of us talking about going into the Fraser Valley/Van City area after whipsaw and then carrying onto the island after a few days of visiting family or friends in the Vancouver area. I think Hazardhat (nicholas) might be interested in whipsaw as well and then doing some island runs with us. A trip out to tofino would be gold even if just for one night to bring the trucks on the beach to camp for one night. Oh Tofino..........

Is the Whipsaw run listed under the multi day expedition section? I can not get the password to work for the 2 day run section. I am trying to confirm the date for this run as it might be possible for me to make it.

Harry, try the other password. Things haven't been changed back yet since the Halloween run.
Or save yourself the trouble because the run isn't listed yet but I think it is penciled in for July. Nathan can correct me if I'm wrong on that one.
