Thats a nice 81 you got there. I've seen your truck on yotatech i think. I remember seeing that tool box built into the box mod. Great idea. How well does it work, any issues?

freeze
04-20-2009, 09:06 AM
Thank you! Works great, the only issue is my shocks to keep them propped open just died and they're pretty heavy to keep open. Gotta get to princess auto to get some new ones.

What are you running for wheel spacers?

Marlin's 1.25". I'm running a 1995 rear axle so I widened the front to match.

99BlackTac

I'm gonna have to look into a full set of those to widen my 81, and yes, I will get around to posting pics haha, its a work in progress-

What springs are you running? The original owner of my truck put in the 5'' TrailGear springs and said they setled out an inch or two.

I'm rockin trailgear 4" springs. After searchin Pirate4x4, it looked like 2 inches was the standard amount they settled. Some settled more some didn't at all. I'll be happy with 2", but wouldnt mind if they dropped 3". Have to see what happens.

Those were 33x12.50's and the tire still stuck out probly 1.5" but the wheels had 3.75" backspacing im pretty sure. They were bushwackers i think.... lol sorry i had it in 2006 and dont remember all the exact specs.

I know I loved it. It was made by Lund but unfortunately from what I understand, after looking for one for the Hilux, they no longer make them. I could be wrong here but I went to a supposed dealer here in Calgary and they told me that I could not get one for my truck as there was problems with water getting in the cab and poor fit. I never had any of these problems with my old truck and still want one. It looked sweet!

My 1990 Pickup

Its rusty but trusty haha. But it came with 31" BFG All-Terrains
and the wheels when I bought it. Has almost 310K on the clock
and honestly does not burn any oil between changes. Oh and its
the V6.

My futur plans include a Dynomax exhaust and some fibreglass body
parts from toyotafibreglass.com most likely this spring. Eventually I
wanna end up with a long travel kit in the front but thats not gonna
happen right away. A few other odds and ends will be added as I find
them at pick and pull haha.

If this should be in the "Introduce Section" feel free to move mods.

I haven't attended any CT4WD training. So not likely for a while.
The truck will be getting even sweet soon. 4" suspension lift and 4.88's with a limited slip rear are all waiting to be put in this weekend.
Keep an eye out for updates on my build thread.

PS: I usually just edit my previous posts to include new info and updates.

DAMN!!!!! what springs are you running up front?!

Just All-Pro/Marlin's 4" leafs. I think I should run a longer shock front and rear. It's maxed out on the shock... the leafs can still droop more.
