I know how hard it can be to find information on these trucks so I put together a few links that I think are useful for people that own a Hilux. I have an LN106 3L Diesel Hilux Pickup and most of the information I have is specific to that model. If anyone else has any more good links they have discovered that would be helpful to Hilux owners out there help us out and post them here.

MODS

I found a bunch of info over at 4wheeling.ca a while back its all pretty useful so here it goes.

Looking for a Rad but don't want to spend a bunch of money check this article out.

Sick of getting passed by joggers when going up a hill? Throw a turbo on your Hilux I'm planning on doing this mod in the future I'll let you know if she blows up.

Same Subject different page.

This is anther handy article from 4wheel.ca on installing a Centerforce clutch in a Hilux.

Here are some workshop manuals on a few different Toyota Diesel Engines. The 3L is Poorly represented here but if you own a Surf you might get some good info.

You can also take a look through some of the links on this South African site on the Hilux. Some of its useful.

PARTS
I know it can be a chore finding parts but I put together some good links for you to browse.

If you live in Alberta I would first call the guys at 4Wheel Auto. They seem to be able to get just about anything for your Hilux.

Also Rocky Mountain Imports has a great parts selection

There's also Outback imports up in the Yukon they have some pretty sweet looking trucks for sale on their page as well as a good parts directory.

I would also recommend checking out J Cruisers in Armstrong. They have lots of Hilux parts as well as a bunch of wrecked JDM vehicles that you can get used parts from.

I'm sure I have some more links kicking around but I hope this helps those of you that are in the club that have Diesels.

Hey thanks for the link. I cannot find the service specifications for the power steering fluid for the D-4D (1KD-FTV). I need both the type and the volume of PS fluid. Anyone knows? Thanks

Anyone know how to get rid of the rough start up on the 2.4L Turbo diesel in a 91 Hilux Surf?
I hear this is a pretty common issue.
One of the old boys at my work's Hilux has this issue.
It sputters, smokes and runs rough for the first 15-45 seconds. Then it's just fine.
Anyone?

yup pretty much all of them do it. Take out the EGR will help a little. Rebuilding the ECU is probably the biggest fix. There are 11 resistors in it that burn out, and need to be replaced. The entire job will cost under $20 for the parts. I'll see if I can find the list of part numbers. And the link to the fix. I know a guy who did it. There is also a guy that will rebuild the ECU floating around somewhere on the interweb. Making sure you have the correct OEM glowplugs will help as well. There is no correct aftermarket substitute. Trust me I have tried 3 different brands none work properly

I just live with it. Mine farts for 30sec on startup and then after that its all good. One of these days I'll fix it
