Nice truck! I like the skid plate work. Just in case you flip over in another country, they know where to ship you back to. My skids gettin' a little beat. Might be time for a sand blast and a new paint job.

I bent that skid plate so bad It busted both bottom mounting bolts off their heads and is nearly touching my oil pan -- at mclean may long. I need to re-paint it with a nice piece of angle iron attached to the back.... ohhh 4x4ing to much fun

My old 4runner was not saved by the skid plate -- a nice drunk driver hits harder then trees.

Yeah I am so happy the skid plate did its job, thats what they are for.

Pics of the 4runner I built for my sister. She lives up in the Northwest territories and rolled it this winter so its not as clean as it was in these pics. It's an 85, 22RE, auto, 3 inch skyjacker lift, I custom built the rear bumper, 32 inch tires.

A typical cancerous 60. Rust removal has begun, but no welding yet.
I hope it gets most the work finished this winter. Intentions are for it to be a daily driver, some mild towing and running on WVO.

That's looking CLEAN...I have a few rust spots on the rear wells and I could use some tips on how to patch them up

All depends on the size of the rust spots once you start grinding you might find that theres not much metal left, this happened on my passanger side. So I'll be replacing it with a fibreglass panel in the next year. But if you want to mess around and try without panel replacement then...(this is definetly not a permanent solution)
grind rust, then grind some more... stuff the big hole with old t-shirts and some foam in a can,form it to look like a fender, use fibreglass netting then add about 50.00 worth of bondo, thats how i rebuild my passanger side yeah its not pretty, but it looks better then big ol' rust hole:-D

If the rust isnt to bad just grind it off, bondo what you need, paint and away you go. Post some pics of the rust or PM and I'll see if I can offer some advice.

-Upgraded Tundra W13 rotors / callipers
-New Suspension ~3 inch lift
-Front diff drop
-Repaint the roof rack / hitch
-New tires-probably MTs
-Winter tires + steel rims
-Front ARB bar with a Warn 9000 with a synthetic line
-Rear bumper + tire carrier (still deciding on the manufacturer)
-Upgraded head lights
-Some LED lights in the interior
-Husky liners throughout
-Front / gas tank skid plate
-Remove the running boards and replace them with sliders
-TRD supercharger (dreaming big, I know!)
-Viper 2 way alarm / starter
-Heated driver + passenger seats (leather is harsh in the cold)

-Rear ARB locker
-Thule Ski pod
-Eventually an RTT

Wow that is a long list! In no particular order, ones that are deemed priority will take place first. This is going to be one long term project!

Hey all nice runners.

This is my 85 just turned 25 in may and I'm approaching the 500,000 km mark ;) Rebuilt the 22re at about 400,000 km's because of the timing chain guide (if only I knew then what I know now). bored 30 over, pistons, rods, head. I did the exhaust, rebuilt the axles and knuckles, tranny about 200,000 ago. Have an extra tranny and rebuilt transfer case. Procomp 3" front with 5.5" shackles. Procomp 4" springs in the rear with 33/12.5/15 mud terrains. Once I get the mess my dad made of it all worked out Ill be doing the bumpers, duel cases etc etc etc. For now im working on the body and I'll be painting the body with ez liner and rock gard on the floors instead of carpet. the frame is coming off to do a small body lift and Ill be painting the frame and everything with POR15.

I did the exhaust, rebuilt the axles and knuckles, tranny about 200,000 ago. Have an extra tranny and rebuilt transfer case. Procomp 3" front with 5.5" shackles. Procomp 4" springs in the rear with 33/12.5/15 mud terrains. Once I get the mess my dad made of it all worked out Ill be doing the bumpers, duel cases etc etc etc. For now im working on the body and I'll be painting the body with ez liner and rock gard on the floors instead of carpet. the frame is coming off to do a small body lift and Ill be painting the frame and everything with POR15.

I love those runners! How did you make out fishing? I havnt been steel heading for ever. Have you ever fished the Chilliwack River or Fraser in BC?

We made out pretty good considering the conditions with 4 to hand between 3 of us and it was the first time steelheading for 2 of us. The water was low and clear and the sun was out so it was tough to find many players. We were also swinging flies so the odds are a lot lower than on spoons and stuff. Haven't fished the Fraser or Chilliwack, but I'm headed to Smithers this fall to do it again on the Bulkley, Morice, Babine, etc.

when i looked into an lc kit for my first toyota truck 1990 reg cab long box it was going to be 5000 just for parts not including shipping or install and while yes it is cheaper then the canadian list price for the 4.0L trd sc its still more then what i paid for my sc with the fit kit

Wow, some serious 4Runners on here. Mine's a close-to-stock '03 SR5 V6 with FJ suspension and wheels. My 11-year-old son and I are looking forward to trying it out on logging roads and whatever else I find in the mountains this summer. Open diffs and no skids or sliders will keep me away from the gnarly stuff (for now).

Oh yea, forgot about the rear bumper rust :P stupid design by Toyota for sure on that one. As soon as the bumper becomes an eye sore(so...... Whenever I'm bored, and have money to spare) I'll probably build some bumpers for it out of aluminum. Maybe anodize it as well as my dad has an in.

Go to USER CP on the top left tab.
Once there, go to Edit Profile Picture from Your Control Panel on the left.

Click the Edit Avatar link on the left.
Click the Use Custom Avatar radio button.

Oxidizes you mean? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aluminium)

The outside of aluminum will oxidize and protect the inner metal. The oxidization / exposed aluminum gets harder / more brittle but relatively speaking, it protects it quite well.

And you could also anodize it. Just for colour's sake.
