It was a great day out at McLean yesterday, great weather, good wheeling conditions and we got a group shot!

I thought that I would put up a few of the pics that I got from the run.

Enjoy!

Hey, How did it go at the end of Fisher west... I was there on the Quad on Saturday and the last hill has been really badly eroded by water runoff! Wouldn't want my FJ in there but I'm sure Gary and other like minded individuals had a blast with it... Pics of that please!!! :)

You guys know how lucky you are to have such an awesome (endless) place to wheel so close to Calgary right? I think I speak for all Edmontonians when I say we are all extremely envious. Keep the pics coming....

is that the hill coming down towards the T intersection?

Honestly it wasn't too bad, I was at stock height and so was Apes4x4 and we didn't have any issue.

or are you talking about the river crossing heading back towards the store?

We only had to tug 1 FJ out that got crossed up in one of the first mud holes on Fisher west. The trail was really dry in comparison to what Nathan and Kieth had to deal with on Friday.

yeah I know the spot, our trucks fit along the bypass no problems, Nathan and Gary did have some fun in the washout though!

That was an awesome day!!

The video just about finished as we're just waiting on Shayne and Blake for the group shot at the top.

Good work Keith on the trail leading and Gary for keeping things in check as tail gunner.

Great to have some new additions to the crew... April, Justin, Meghan, Bette, and Daryl!

Thank you to Bette for the cookies and snacks and to Will for playing Chef.

Can't wait till the next time on the trail!

To say the ride was "awesome" is to understate this unbelievable experience for this newbie. This was my first official ride ever. Me, my trusty FJ, and husband Richard as a passenger (who didn't white knuckle it even once or bail).

It was a well organized trip, with Keith as our fearless and very competent trail leader who spotted us through some stuff that looked gnarly at first glance, but once in it, it was exciting and so fun. And Gary, Mr. Winch, didn't have to use his winch, as he spotted all of us through the last crater where nobody got stuck and the FJ's all performed well, along with the 4Runners and Trucks.

Thank you Keith and Nathan and Richard (passenger) for doing a prerun on Friday when you decided to reverse the course for Sunday's ride, and it was a good thing that you did, because on Sunday the different stages came at us in a very manageable way and left the "crater" to the end. Well thought out decisions for all levels of driving skills.

Great positive environment, great spotting, and learnt so much while heart thumping away, but it was more than manageable and so so fun. The view at the top, well that's more than a thousand words with all the photos posted.

Matthew and Steev, give a kid and a dog, sticks and water and so cool to watch.

Nathan, great video as always. Great having Justin the new member, whom we met at the Ethics course on Saturday and there he was on Sunday! couldn't wipe the smile off his face. And most of all, it was lovely spending the whole day with all of you. Thank you for a such a fun ride!

I wanted to see Shane's post of Daryl's video through the crater and Daryl's posting, too. Does video, in this case, mean video as in "moving pictures"? (showing my age am I?) or does it mean a still photo as in paused video? Or is it my computer?

Totally agree about expert spotting. It teaches about line, wheel placement, and I have lots to learn, especially, about momentum which you carried well that smoothed out your run, Daryl. Everybody did well through there. Real cool.

Thanks Gary aka "Mr. Winch"!

The Trip report is live on the Main News Site!!

What an incredible trail run at McLean Creek. This was our June 1Day Trip (formerly known as the Easy Run) with spectacular views and excellent company. We started the day out at 8:30 AM at the McLean Creek General Store where we met up with April, Meghan, Bette, Jeff M., Blake, Gary, Will, Justin, Shayne, Daryl, and Keith.

The venue for the 1Day Trip consisted of going up through Fisher West then climb to the peak of Quark Ridge which is about a 1,000FT elevation gain. Justin had joined CT4WD on Friday, took the Trail Ethics & Safety Course, and joined us on the trail Sunday. If you see his FJ Cruiser, you'll notice his license plates aren't the Albertan variety as he's come all the way from Texas! Justin wasn't the only new attendee on the Official Trail Run as he was joined by April, Bette, and Daryl. Meghan has been on the trail quite a few times mostly riding shotgun. Now that she's a 4Runner owner, this was her first full day behind the wheel on the trail as well.

Ahh, there was nothing hellish about the food from Will's kitchen. Just good old hot dogs! He flipped them with great skill and dexterity except for one errant one that flipped off the stove--one second rule and quickly rescued by his sous chef, Nathan. (will not go into details of the rescue mission). Can't waste them hot dogs. Mmmm.
