We've been researching and contacting OHV user's to organize a clean up of McLean Creek during the weekend after May Long for quite sometime.

We received a great email back from the Calgary ATV Riders Assoc. as they are willing to work together to do our event.

There is a dinner provided for volunteers with the RMR and prizes will be drawn for them as well. The dinner, awards and prizes take place on Sat. at the Skyline ranch where I'll be camped out with the rally teams. If you can only work the Friday events which are local it would be appreciated. The weather does not look great but it will keep the dust down.

I might be able to swing by Sat afternoon. Depending on how long of a day i work, I will be out in Priddis so not a far drive.

I'm thinking perhaps since the response locally for the cleanup is somewhat nil as users are thinking it's probably not too bad this year. (I'm going to check in with SRD anyways)

We can run this schedule as follows:

Wednesday (recover review)

Thursday (Rally Meeting)

Friday Rally Start

Camp Friday Night

Saturday Rally

Camp Saturday Night

Clean up McLean Creek Sunday.

It's a jammed weekend for sure but we really need to get out and start reaching out to the community and get out and clean up on the weekend.

If I had not previously committed to the rally I would be there for the clean up. I had no idea about the clean up and it's unfortunate that the two coincide. The recovery review and rally meeting can be combined on Thurs. if that helps. The rally can really use the help and it is a great learning experience on many levels (it motivated me to get my HAM license).

Thanks to all those who are coming out to assist with the rally your help is most appreciated. Some details - the national teams will start Powderface at 2pm on fri and run till 6pm then the regional teams will run Jumping Pound from 6pm till 9pm. For those not familar with the area we could all meet at the Petrocan at Hwy 22 and Hwy 1 or at the lookout for Jumping Pound. Radio will be VHF on RYC (146.850 Fri. only) simplex for recovery 146.445 also cb 4 and frs 4 and my cell is 988-5377. Saturdays events are down south and meeting at Longview tourism office is best (it's next to the Esso on the Highway right side southbound). Again thanks all for helping out.

No worries! Sorry we can't make it up to help you too. Good luck up there!

Hey thank you Harry for coming by last night to coffee night. So far we have the following for winch recovery.

Albert
Chris K.
Will
Harry
Nathan

We have the following for recovery assistant:

Antonio
Shayne

We could use more hands on deck with steel bumpers for anchors for the winch crew.

Perhaps a pairing of two vehicles. 1 with a winch and 1 with recovery points for anchor.

Meeting is tonight for the CT4WD Recovery Team!

Sorry guys I'm out. I tried to get all the stuff I needed to do on sat done last night after the meeting and it didn't pan out.

I will bust my balls off on Sat so I can come out Sunday though

I think the coolest thing ever would be if we could send one of the RC rigs carrying the synthetic winch lead down to an offed car. I loved seeing the RC rigs out at Tims a whole new hobby to explore.

I was out at McLean today, and im not sure where you guys are planning to go? But as far as i could tell, it was almost completely deserted save for some campers and their GIGANTIC S10's I also tried to keep an eye open for garbage and everything, found a couple of bottles of coke. But i think the snow is really going to hinder your progress guys!

You guys missed quite a day down in Porcupine Hills. The condition became so bad they cancelled several sections and then had to pull out media, spectators and marshalls that became stuck in the soup. I managed a 180 when a rut caught my front end but freed myself once my hear rate settled abit. I felt abit like Top Gun when Maverick comes to the dogfight and you can hear the battle on the radio as on my radio all you could hear was people stuck while we were in bound from the 520 where it was only raining. What a day...
