I'll probably be in will have to see when the time comes closer. Also going to do some research on the trail as well. Must be some interesting obsticles if its on the best list of trails for North America.

To be fair ... the trail is not on the list for its obstacles. It's on the BFG Outstanding Trails list for it's spectacular views.
I've not been on the trail myself but my understanding is that weather permitting the trail is either impassable (due to snow) or relatively easy with only a few difficult obstacles. I'm sure Keith can comment more on it as he has actually done the trail before.

so when is this and what if you live in west b.c. and can't take those 2 courses listed above?

Hmmm good question! I think we'd be able to get you through the two courses, we should discuss this further!

yeah that would be awesome, what are the vehicle recommendations for this trail, i have seen pics of a stock pathfinder making it through but most people i talk to out here are requirement nazi's and say that i would need a locker in the rear.

I don't think it will be necessary, just solid recovery points attached to the frame and some protection perhaps. We'll be pre-running the trail so we'll be able to provide better feedback on requirements shortly.

Prerunning a 5 day trip is awfully ambitous and expensive. Why not run it for the first time just as you did with Rubicon or Moab which are a bit further away? Sometimes it's more fun to go on an exploration together than it is being led on a run. This is why I sometimes prefer to lead from the back so that those out front can experience exploring the trail and lines for themselves. The attendees have the training and rigs so they should be able to handle a well established trail like Whipsaw. I have always wanted to run Whipsaw but time and distance have prevented me from doing so.
Just a suggestion as it seems like alot of time and effort that may not be required. Can a member join the PATHS team, who are the team and what does PATHS stand for?
I see your truck was nice and clean for your trip downtown on Friday night - I am everywhere! I need to get a whole lot more cards as everynight I see 3 or 4 rigs that require carding.

Might want to back a couple fuel cans for this trip I know I don't want to run out of fuel on the trail. I'm planning on coming to this one.

We pre-run when we can especially for these bigger trips as exit strategies are good to have with knowledge of the area especially if we're bringing people there.
I myself always feel responsible even though I'm not. Even out here, I always am looking out for everyone, spotting, recovery, etc... If there's ever a situation, at least we're not going in there blind.. we can't calculate for every situation. It's a little more of a leg up then just going in there blind.
This is pegged as a multi day trip with a very low difficulty rating, so we need to be on top of things for our Members.
If it was un-official... I agree completely.

Ah... and Ben Crockett from 4WD Toyota Owner's Magazine may be attending with us on the trail to do a piece on CT and the trail run.

Is there any difficult lines we can take or is it all just easy?

There's some obstacles on the trail that can be exciting. It's a good mix of obstacles and scenery. One of the top 10 trails to do before.. well.... you know the rest.

John, I ran the trail in '04 when I still had IFS and 33's. It's easy for anything with 33's and up, and there are one or two sections that makes it a bit of a challenge for stockers. I'm thinking about going again because it is a great scenic trail with great camping, but not sure yet if I'd be able to make it though.

Hey guys, bad news :(
My gf's Grandpa passed away on Sunday and the funeral will be this Saturday, so Whipsaw is a no go for us.
Have fun, and I will have to live the trip through your guys pictures.

I'm really sorry to hear about Shay's Grandpa, please send our regards.
Not to worry, it'll be there again next year!

Thanks Nathan, Shea and I feel we are missing a great trip but sometimes circumstances dictate otherwise.
But on a positive note, it now give me/Chris a bit more time to lift my truck now that we dont have a really tight deadline.
I will for sure be there next year, and hopefully still out on the trails for the rest of the year

Unfortunately I have to withdraw as well because of property obligations I thought I could find someone to take care of but couldn't. Duty and responsibility call I'm afraid. Really too bad because I was looking forward to this one...ALOT.

no, i just can't afford it... been nearly a year since i've had a full time job... i technically couldn't afford going to crowsnest, but i really wanted to get out on a multi day run...
maybe next year? though i have a feeling i'll be stuck with other obligations at that point...

I have been see sawing back and forth about this trip and for a brief time today was back in. Richard kind of convinced me to go for it since the only real expense is fuel and I thought two tanks there and two back. Just checked the distances just to get to Princeton - yikes!!! The shortest route thru HWY 1 10 and 1/2 hours and Just shy of 800 km. My Runner on it's best day gets about 300km on a tank so that puts it at 3 tanks each way plus the trail so say 7 tanks. Fuel in BC is expensive at $1.30 to $1.40 and that equals nearly $600 for the total trip. Maybe if I coast on hills and draft big rigs I could afford it - :D. If they go the southern route the distance time is half again more. Dang I really want to run Whipsaw but the timing/cost just does not work.
