Hi!
We are planning a family outing on Sunday on highway 66 to Powderface Trail. For those of you with KIDS...that have always wanted to come out for an afternoon, but need to avoid the 10+ hour trail runs...THIS IS FOR YOU (and everyone else too!)
What to expect:
- scenery
- gravel roads (4wd will likely not be used...pending snow/road conditions at this time of year)
- photo ops
- friends
- Toyotas
- at least one Jeep (Courtnee is bringing the TJ)
Highway 66 opens on Friday, the 14th (gated at Elbow Falls until then).
Our plan includes driving out to a suitable location, setup a BBQ and lawnchairs, maybe a campfire.
I'll bring my propane BBQ, and pending responses here, a few dozen hotdogs/buns/condiments on us! Chips, cheeseys etc as well.
This is FAMILY friendly, and open to members/non alike.
For those interested, Powderface continues on and drops you out on Hwy 1...making for a very nice loop...Courtnee and I will likely head back along 66 to 22X and home at end of afternoon.
Meet:
Elbow Falls parking lot @ 11am....we will pull out at 11:30.
Expected return:
Late afternoon return to Calgary proper.
Courses req'd
N/A (shame on you if you haven't taken it :p)
CB/FRS
Ch 4...we'll be on CB.
Requirements:
LT tires
BYO chair
BYO Pop
Per any runs I organize: NO ALCOHOL or DRUGS permitted
You can reach me via PM here, or: keith.macdaly@ct4wd.com

Now this sounds like it would be fun. I'm in need of an afternoon out.
I'll have to talk to the wife and make sure "we" don't have anything planned for Sunday yet.

This does sound fun but I'm some what committed already. Just a heads up on the 27th you can see how fast a car can run the same road as it will the first stage of the Rocky Mountain rally. The national teams (ie super fast) will be running Powder Face and the regional teams will be on the demonstration loop. http://rockymountainrally.com/rmr/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=55&Itemid=1

Well, Dave, funny thing happened on the way to the trail.
As it turned out, in our wait for folks to show up at Elbow Falls, Alex ended up getting quite sick all over the front seat of the 4Runner...Courtnee and Kadyn came in the lot, we switched vehicles, and headed home. :( I SWEAR, we're gonna make it out this year! :)
The fun, and pictures were had by others I'm sure...
Sorry to those that went out of their way to come join us.

Hmm... maybe I should have gotten sick all over my desk at work if it would have gotten me out of there for a trail run.
I'll keep that one in my back pocket for the next time!

We had a little posse come join Keith to find a little surprise in his passenger seat. It was good to see him ready to go at least so close to getting on some loose gravel.
Next time for sure!
We might have some photo's here in a bit. We had a Ladies Run just before meeting up with Keith at McLean. I think the ladies are getting the hang of it pretty quick.

Keith: It was nice meeting your family. The summer is still coming on so hopefully we'll have another outing on the Powderface with Alex feeling much better and Kaydan with a smile. They're both adorable. What can I say, with kids, it happens and before you know it, they're driving a truck.
Gravely run on the Trail, FJ not keen at sharp turns, husband white knuckling dash, and was a dusty but a good ride.
Thank you to Chris C, Victor, Nathan, and Richard (the husband) for coming out for an awesome Ladies Day at the unofficial run at McLean. The ct4wd Girls' Team Rocks! Victor put the recovery skills of the Team to the test (intentionally, we're sure) as Meghan and April did a very competent job strapping and pulling for a successful recovery operation. I really have good role models. Not so muddy, but good ruts and great guiding. Learned alot, great support, and am" stoked"--borrowing from David W. A $12.00 car wash--not so bad--not like those of you who had $35 car washes the weekend before. Now that was muddy.
Have signed up for courses. I think freeze has created a "monster" dragon. Thanks to all, The DragonLady.

Hey Victor:
Of course, we knew that! and also, you had to be pulled out because you were in charge of the weiner roast! Thank you again for bringing the hotdogs. We still have copious amounts of chips left for the next trail ride. Can't wait to see the pics and videos. The DragonLady

We are working on the photos and a video... I had some chips today in Nate's truck! Yum. Thanks for the great time.
Sorry Keith, Courtney, Alex and Kadyn that you couldnt make it out. That would have doubled our girls count! There will be a next time for sure.

Hey, great photos, thank you!
Maybe there will be a new segment in the 101--manual recovery. Gotta love that Steev 'cuz notice he's the only one paying attention. Just kidding. High fives to all too. Love the sticker--soon to be showing up on my FJ.
