Hi CalgaryRider
Where do we meet for the July 10 101 course? (I know I should be able to find it but I'm not sure where to look on CT4WD).
Thanks
marc

Hey Marc,

Nathan probably has all the details and hopefully he will be sending out an email with more info on it this week....

I'm really looking forward to it, should be a good time and it will be good to see you again!

Just a heads up but two weeks ago the entrance to the area was trenched for drainage by an excavator. We managed to get thru but the trail was in the poorest ie funnest condition I've ever seen. If the trench is still there spotting will be needed to safely get vehicles across as you need to go in on the right and cross to the left thru a very soft V that if done wrong could put a vehicle on it's side ( I came pretty close). After the entrance it's all the same as usual.

Thank you for the heads up there Harry! We might have to scope it out and see what we need to do.

I've gotta say that was an excellent class with excellent people! Nice work everyone, we noticed a solid progression in driving skill in the afternoon even in the massive downpour!

Great work David for teaching all the hooligans :D

I hope everyone had a great time as much as we did! If you have comments or suggestions regarding the course please email us at info@ct4wd.com!

Now for some photo's of the morning session.

I should mention that a myth was debunked at the course - You can teach an old dog new tricks. I learned quite a few new things at the course which was well presented. If you are fence sitting about the courses don't as they are full of good information and worth the time and money. I was so impressed I promptly went out and got severly stuck in a torrential down pour to test out my winching skills. 100ft of steel winch cable from the stuck vehicle in front of me thru a pulley block attached to a tree (with saver) back down to my winch cable which was on its 5th row. I pulled the Suzuki partially free then I came free (despite brakes on full) and slid into a tree. Once jammed against the tree the Suzuki came free and at last I could pull myself out. Probably the most complex and longest distance recovery I have ever had to perform. The root ball stump in my left rear claimed the Suzukis muffler and then it nearly claimed my 4Runner. As I pulled forward it rolled under my vehicle and lifted it up till the front end was off the ground, then it began flipping it to the right into a deep mud hole. The video is where we re positioned to the exterme left and that is why the Runner rotates left and at the end the rear tire rolls over the root ball. Good times.

Cool vid. (the safety guy is keeping his mouth shut)

The course looked like it was good times, I will have to try and make it out for the next one. Some very nice trucks too!
