Looks like I missed another good run :(

I think that makes about 123 missed runs for you this year, eh Shayne... LOL. Just kidding. Don't worry you're not missing much. The pictures and videos don't tell the whole story. It really isn't as much fun as it looks.... LOL. Just kidding again. It's totally awesome! Your totally missing out!

this run would've been a 1h run in dry conditions.

it took us all day because we had very technical recoveries and some good obstacles.

I really enjoyed it, and using my truck as a tree for the snatch block was also a first;) I'm glad the rear bumper is that strong!

Great trail run yesterday and thank you for the fun!

It started as a run up through Fischer West and ended up doing the Valley rd. Trail. Addison and Jeff from Lethbridge came up for the run as well which was awesome to see. The snow up the hill climbs were too deep for some of the trucks so we went for a a bypass which provided some interesting challenges as the trails have changed.

I don't know if I have enough footage for a good video as it was my turn to lead the trail, I'll have to see what Victor shot as I gave him the camera :D!

Again... an awesome time!

in every picture, i am being recovered..... :( lol it was a good time, although as of today, my old truck is hurting; one upper ball joint, one mud flap, an alignment, and a twisted front bumper. Not to mention a ridiculous amount of coolant hoses which are in the mail!!!

Thanks everyone for there help out there! despite the broken parts and a few 'bumps' along the way, it was wicked!!!

At least you were able fish out my pliers from behind your engine block. You know it's going to be an interesting day when it starts out like that... LOL

I was thinking the same thing.

this run would've been a 1h run in dry conditions.

Many of the simple but fun trails in the dry summer are truly daunting in the wet spring.

First of all, I want to thank all of the Calgary members that helped Addison and I out time and time again with our technique (or lack there of) and pulling us out when required.

I was REALLY impressed with the 101 course and for those of you that are on the fence about signing up for one of these courses or runs .. GET ON IT!

We had a blast! .. Addison and I were as giddy as two high school girls out there! Great group of people and everyone was SUPER friendly.

I think I spent $20 at the car wash yesterday trying to get all the mud off the bottom of my rig!

looks like you guys had a lot of fun on the trail run. Wish I could have made it.

I wasn't sure where else to post them, but I saw others had posted some pictures from the 101 training course here so I figured this was as good a place as any.

Here are my shots from the 101 on May 8th 2010

I think I spent $20 at the car wash yesterday trying to get all the mud off the bottom of my rig!

I also spent $20, and all of it was for spray wash...

there is still mud hidden, and the truck is still dirty because I didn't hand wash it!

I spent an initial $36, it was still dirty after. Mud, so tempting yet I hate it...

Hey Nathan ... I saw you running around with that tiny digital vidcam that day, who makes it? Model?

VERY cool that we can show everyone where we go and it's all put to funky music!

Thank you Jeff... :)

For the Jeff in Lethbridge :D Like Etienne says it's the Go Pro HD, some from the Sanyo Xacti and Jeff M. took a few shots with his SLR. I usually wait for the SIA ski show to pick mine up for fraction of retail.

hey nathan, any thoughts about the go pro hd vs the contourhd? I'm thinking of getting the latter for a helmet/whatever cam (primarily for mountain biking, but i'm sure it will have many uses).

I like the sharper picture quality of the contourhd and the small form factor, but i hear the mounts for the go pro are superior.

freeze
05-18-2010, 12:20 AM
According to my buddies that ski in matchstick production films, the camera guys prefer the picture quality of the GoPro HD over the ContourHD when it goes up on the big screen. The white balance is better apparently and the image is a tad sharper. I can't really comment on that because I've only had the GoPro from the beginning.

I do really like the mounting options of the GoPro which is super versatile. Not to mention the case is super protective and if the lens does get dimpled, you can replace the lens on the case. GoPro is working on a screen as well that just plugs into the back of the cam so you can see what you're videoing.

Another thing, the Gopro also takes stills at 3-4 different choices of 'second' increments which you can choose.

I really wanted to get the contourhd but your advice made me do some more research and in the end I've decided to go with the gopro hd.

I'm really not a fan of the form factor, but it does seem to be the slightly better choice for my applications.

Thanks for sharing your take on things.

Can't wait to get my hands on it and take some sweet POV video on my bc bike trip in a couple of weeks.

my friend has a the countour and I love it.

We have tons of snowmobile footage, skiing too.

the gopro shakes less because it's wider angle, but the angle is wider than your field of view, so things doesn't look the same.

They are both very good, but the gopro looks quite silly installed on the helmet!!! For truck applications, the gopro is easier to install everywhere.
