as the title states, I want to lift the 4Runner ~ 3" and want to do it right the first time.
I plan on loading it up with gear so weight capacity is a consideration, here is what I am thinking of (so far):
Front
- All-Pro UCA's
- Fox 2.5 Coilovers
Rear
- Coils
- OME 891
- Toyota LC Coils
- Shocks
- OME Nitrocharger Sport (60027)
- OME Nitrocharger (N86)
- Bilstein 5125 series (they worked well on the Taco...)
I am considering 33" tires well along with a bunch of armor - heavy ass Shrockworks front bumper, All-Pro sliders and a CBI rear bumper and tire carrier.
Any suggestions on what parts I should go with are appreciated!

Here's what I went with after an exhausted search of what I felt to be the best for my application, I have a first gen tacoma, but some of the same armor that you want. I have the CBI Demello hybrid bumper with swing out tire carrier and dual metal gas can holder, big ass custom made bumper up front with a 9,500 lbs winch. Sliders and skids will be done at the end of the month.
So I went
Front
Camburg UCA's
Icon 2.5 ext. travel coil-overs
Rear
Icon 2.0 Rear resevoir shocks
Custom Deaver springs (or Alcan can be used as well, as shown in some other threads Alcan can do cheaper custom work, I chose Deaver)
Now i do think the rear suspension on your 4runner is independent so the springs don't really count, right? but as long as you consider the weight of "extras" plus weight of passengers plus any cargo you want and choose coils appropriately, don't consider what everyone else is running consider what's right for your application.
The curse of trying to find the right suspension is something we've all faced, there is some good points on CT4WD in some other threads, some of which were my own, but there is an extremely good write up on pirate 4x4 see the CT4WD thread http://www.ct4wd.com/forum/showthread.php?t=510
it'll explain some of the differences between the shocks, coils etc.
I plan to run 33's as well and the above was right for my application, but know that we've all encountered it and can advise on what parts should be used, but for your own sanity and understanding make sure you understand what each part does, and if you're already in that understanding well I'll just shut up hahahha and say go Icon haha, I'm not the most talented one for understanding the "right" application for 4Runners but if we traced back how long ago I started researching and up to last weekend when I finally ordered the crap it was probably a year or so.

Thanks for the input Chaos - I've browsed that thread on before... (at least it looks familiar)
I do like the ICON gear but am not sure whether or not it's justifiable to spend the extra bucks to get them... All-Pro has been pretty good to us and their Fox Shocks are pretty nice... (and we can get them rebuilt in Edmonton - ICON you are sending back to Cali).
The end result with this rig is hopefully a capable overland adventure vehicle - most of the time I can see myself, the dog and perhaps one other in the 'Runner with minimal gear. The bulk of the use may be highway driving to and fro ski hills and so the additional armor will be most of the added weight (as opposed to always carrying a fully loaded 'Runner with camping gear etc).
EDIT - 4Runner rear suspension is a 4link set up - I need independent coils and springs.

ICON gets rebuilt in our backyard. HRT (http://highrollerztrux.com/home/) out of Okotoks rebuilds ICON coliovers. I'm waiting on him to get some parts in to start my rebuilds so I can't comment on his work yet. However, Richard King / HeelToe has vouched for him and his work. Plus he's willing to change my standards to extendeds and add heavier springs.
Something to think about.

That's good news - I wasn't sure that HRT could fully service the shocks, kinda assumed that he would take them in, ship 'em back and get the rebuilt ones back. If he does them locally...
I think I will desire a stiffer spring rate too - adding the 10K winch to the front along with a plate bumper will warrant a stiffer coil.
Thanks for adding fuel to the fire Doc!
