Well, ive been looking for some 3rd members, and i keep seeing 4cyl and 6cyl 3rd members listed different... like, people will mention that they have a 3rd member from a v6 with blah blah gearing, and another 3rd member from a 4cyl with the same gearing... they mention them separate instead of saying they have 2 3rd members with blah blah gearing...
is there a difference between the 4cyl and 6cyl 3rd members? like maybe ring gear size or something?
also, is it possible to put a rear 3rd member into a front axle housing (solid axle, of course)?
Thanks guys!

v6 diffs are stronger that 4cyl and yes you can run a 8" diff in your front

They are only stronger because of the third housing. The V6 has a couple more external braces casted into it.
You can swap thirds from front to rear V6 or 4 cylinder. There is even a high pinion version that you can swap in.

om tacom, v6 has 3.73, 4cyl has 4.10 gears. open diff has 8.4 housing and e-locker has 8.0 housing.
front taco 2005+ has 8.0" front and older have 7.5" front.
you are looking for gears or a new diff for lockers?

i'd be looking at getting some 4runner 3rd members with the e-locker, and maybe some bigger gears too, like 4.56 or something.

The V6 has a larger bearing as well.
