I must be getting old...cause 5+ hours yesterday rebuilding the front hubs on the 4Runner has resulted in an Ibuprofen breakfast. :)

Huge difference in driving, with a 30Km test last night. The deterioration of the front end was quite sudden...the last 2 months or so. Lifting the front end and giving each wheel a shake showed we were hooped. Inner bearing on drivers side, and both inner/outer on passengers were in need of replacement. Tires were cupping on every other lug.

This is the type of maintenance that I hate...messy, long, no glory, and no performance enhancements (none noticeable anyways).

Big thanks to some pointers from:

Our very own Victor. :)

No pics...I was too GREASY to be handling my D3000.

Yes it is a messy job for sure and no rewards noticable afterwards other than peace of mind. I had to hunt around for the sleeve and change up design bearings for mine that add more aggravation as not all places had all the pieces so a abit of running around. I also had one stub that was seized to the bearing and galled it so bad the hub hd to be replaced, lucky for me I had spare parts laying around. I know 90-93 all have the same frt ends but what about 94? Somehwere along the way they changed the front suspension design.

96+ I think Harry...you and I should both have the same setup that tastes something like:
- rotor bolted to CV side of hub
- inner bearing, race and seal inside hub closest to CV
- cavity inside of hub
- outer bearing and race
- outer seal
- 52mm retaining nut
- Locking tab washer
- 52mm locking nut
- hub face

Sound familiar? :p

I don't mind doing them, my last bearing repack was a 100 Series Cruiser, I wonder why they still had them...
