What an amazing day with some really beautiful scenery! We met at the Tim Horton's in Cochrane ready to hit the last day of the winter trails in Waiparous. We had a good sized group with 11 Toyota's with 4Runner's, FJ Cruiser's, and Tacoma's! We had some new Members on the trail today which is awesome... Blake D, Les T, and Don W came out and did an incredible job piloting their Toyota's through Waiparous.
After airing down we split into two groups, one headed to Waiparous Falls and the other to tackle the winter trail loop. Upon heading to 4 Corners, we were greeted by Nolan L. who was walking his dog and gave us a great heads up about the Jeep Club not making one of the steep iced descents that hooked left and one LandCruiser from RMCLA that rolled in the same spot.
Good heads up as the trails were much slicker in the AM than it was on Tuesday at night. There were a few close calls on the winter trails of very steep descents that were more like bobsled runs at a very high rate of speed.
Everyone made the trails in great form and the only body damage suffered was my Tacoma as the steep descent that was off camber took the front All-Pro bumper into the rock wall. Nothing serious.. it'll buff out :D
After a successful run with both the Falls and the Winter trail loop, we were hailed on the radio by Chris K. (oriontaco) that there was a stuck Jeep and needed some help! Well... after the $300 fine the Jeep driver received for being in somewhere he shouldn't have, we arrived on the scene to help him out as he had children with him.
Door sill deep in ice and mud, a quick hi-lift and a tug he was free!
Thank you to Chris K. and David E. for leading the trails and Chris F. for tail gunning! Fine work!
See you on the trail.... soon!
Post your shots!

Yeah not too much snow... it's a good thing it's the last day of the winter trails, things were getting muddy at the end of the day. Doesn't look like we're getting any snow soon here too.

Well, not exactly... The back of my Fj did make contact with the front of his Taco, but it was the Taco that experienced an "unintended acceleration" causing the impact... Do you think I've got a cause of action against Toyota ??? ;)

Hey Noland it's been awhile. Did the back of your FJ receive enough damage to warrant an aftermarket rear bumper?

Hey Rob,
Unfortunately not :) I had my trailer ball in the receiver. This was both a blessing and a curse. When Kevin's taco hit the FJ, it stopped on the Trailer ball, causing minor damage to the lower skirting on his bumper, fortunately saving it from hitting my spare tire, and bumper, and saving his headlights, grill, rad, etc... Luckily, neither of us really did any significant damage, and thus, no new rear bumper for me :( It was eerie though, standing beside my truck, hearing Kevin yelling "move, move!!!!" and watching, unable to do anything, as his truck slowly, and steadily, unintentionally accelerated untill striking mine. All I could do was stand back and watch the show. The whole thing probably took about 8 seconds to transpire. Very frustrating.
You've got to come out for a Camping trip one of these days... Bring Bruno, Riley needs a play buddy!

How fortunate yet unfortunate at the same time. I could just imagine standing there clenching my teeth waiting for the outcome.
As for the camping we're planning on doing as much as we can this year so i'm sure there will be plenty of opportunities for us to get together. I bet Riley is getting pretty big and has endless amounts of energy. Our dog Bruno definitely would like a buddy to hang with while camping.

It's a GoPro HD. Got from the SIA ski show for $190 which is now the only perk of that show as it's in Denver instead of Vegas!
I also use an Xacti HD from Sanyo but it had to go in for repairs after the last touring trip. Not sure what happened.
The 3M sticky mounts are great for mounting it anywhere.

So, any word if an IR/RF remote or something is in the pipeline to turn this baby on/off? Seems a natural for remotely located cameras... Heck they can do it with car starters, why not a camera?
