So I finally got my first mod underway this weekend. It's a little bit late coming seeing as the days are getting longer again, but I figured a lightbar would be a fun add-on. I've never really had experience with off-road lights before and WOW what a difference. I got some 130W KC Daylighters and they literally make my highbeams look like a joke. Thought i'd share my first mod that enhanced the off-road capability of my FJ.

I'll hold off on making any more threads about mods until I have enough done to have a build thread. Hoping that's in the near future.

Right on! Those do look pretty bright compared to your headlights. I've always wondered what it would be like to have lights on the roof. Is the light bar custom?

It looks like the real wheels bar, I have the same one, just not found the lights I llike here in Canada, and can not afford to import them yet.

The bar I got from fjcruiseraccessory.com so it was not custom. Almost felt that way though because it didn't really come light ready. It had the tabs and the threaded holes to attach to the roofrack. All the holes to wire through the rack had to be drilled. I'm really happy that I paid the extra money on getting the KC daylighters over the ProComp ones that could have come in a kit. Once on a trail, it SOO bright.

The light bars I have seen out on the trails always get raped by trees. If I were to do a light bar it would incase the lights because they always seem to get smashed or ripped off being up so high.

Hey,
If your lights are always getting beaten you can buy Trailer Light guards from Princess Auto that would help protect your light on your light bar.
They are great on my trailer that is always getting a beating from construction garbage.
These are the square ones but i think they have round as well.

hahha I think that is some deer, just waiting to get run down.
Either that or those cement donkey statues that came into style after the lawn jockey became "inappropriate"

You guys are correct. Some deer coming at me. As for the light protection, I'm building my rig up for more pre-runner purposes rather than crawling. I don't come across low bridges very often while i'm flying along the backroads. If that changes though I do agree, i'll need something to cage them with.

Well thanks to our strong canadian dollar right now I was able to pick up an ICON Stage 1 Suspension System for no more than the american price. That should be here by next weekend and it will be met by some Toyo M/T's and hopefully some new wheels. Still deciding on what wheel i'd like.
