It's official!

Easy CT4WD Snow Run in Waiparous before they shut down the winter trails. March 15th is the last day Waiparous winter trails are open and we'd like to get everyone out before that day!

Also if you haven't taken your Trail Ethics & Safety Course yet, now is the time to sign up as we'll run one before this Trail Run.

I think I'll be putting my Revo's back on for this run though so I don't junk my winter tires. I don't have the 10 ply like Dante's Taco!

Pray for snow!

The P.A.T.H team will be gathering data from Waiparous to ensure that the trails won't be soft and muddy. The winter trails are only open as long as they are covered in snow and saturated with water.

Ummm... I was actually wondering that.

My Hakkas are only good on Ice & snow. On anything else, they will suck royally.

Because it's been so warm, I'm thinking about putting the Nittos back on... (EDIT: for this run)

I think that if the trails are soggy then the SRD pretty well puts the kibosh on a trail run.

Maybe Doc can chime in??

Trails are still pretty frozen - lotsa ice on them, but it's def getting sloppy in places - another week of this weather and it will be pretty messy out there.

X2 on that! Many hills with the Sun facing have a nice wet glaze of ice them, making climbing very interesting.

I thought the trails were great. Just enough mud to make an Easy Run fun - but do-able. Victor and I had one small tough spot on a pretty advanced hill, but the rest was smooth sailing. I would say next week's Easy Run at Waiparous is a go.

Your probably going to have to check with SRD to see if its even still open for next weekend. It will probably be pretty interesting for you guys out there next weekend.

I'll have to check with my trail scout up here to see what its like in my neck of the woods. It's going to be a fun one.

Yup ... we'll have a backup plan but the trails are open as long as the ice flows are still there and there are no mud pits.

Well, that looks like a mud pit. Though that looks a little like meadow creek. We'll have to check winter loops a little more thoroughly.

Plus, weather is supposed to cool off a little this week with some snow scheduled for Tuesday (Calgary at least). Might be okay for next weekend. Regardless, we have other trails as backups.

Looks like the weather is calling for less than 1cm tuesday. We'll be taking a look at the trails this week to see how the weather is affecting the winter trails. Like David said, it'll be plan B if things are too soggy.

The snow and trail conditions out at Hunter Valley were good on Sunday. The area is very dry which is abit odd considering all the snow. The snow pack is very hard and when broken thru it's sugar underneath which is very easy to get stuck on. I wandered off a few spots to see what the ground was like and it is very hard packed. I think you'll be fine just but there is more snow forecast for Sunday. The 40 is so dry that dust clouds made it nearly impossible to see when driving then you find yourself on a clear spot which is a sheet of ice - lots of fun.
