Anyone have any opinions (good or bad) on the Bilstein 5100 adjustable fronts and 5100 rears?
What are some other decent options?
Not really looking to lift and wheel the Tacoma, just looking for something close to or a little better than stock, and not overly expensive.

I have them front and back on my 06 Tacoma. I installed them before the summer and love them. The ride is very much improved and they are even set for 2.5" of lift. I can only imagine how good they would be at 0" or 0.85" of lift.

I find that gravel roads seem much smoother now. They handle very well on offroad obstacles as well. The biggest improvement was on the highway though.

And, they are cheap if you get them from Sonny at Down South Motorsports.

Just took a ride in Chris F.'s Tacoma and it rode really well. He's got the All-Pro font Bilstein set up and the 5100 rears..... Chris....?

So I ordered a set of front adjustable 5100's, but they are on national back order indefenitely :(. While I am waiting for them to arrive, I am wondering if the Bilsteins come with all new parts required for the install?
I will be reusing the OE springs, so are there isolators or other things that wear out, that should be replaced while it's apart?
Thanks for any help,

So, I received news this morning that my Bilsteins are in Calgary . In the meantime, I have decided to order a set of OME881 coils to wrap around them.
For all those that are running aftermarket front suspension, did you install the springs onto the cartridge yourself?
If so, would anyone be willing to lend me a hand or provide advise/tools to make the install easier?
I have heard that these OME coils are very stiff and that typical coil spring compressors do not work so well.

Okay-Okay tough crowd. You don't have to help at all, but at least tell me where you had them done.

I'm shocked Chris (S/C '03 taco) has not chimed on this thread yet. He's got some a fancy coil compressor. I'd send him a PM.

I got my billies installed in my stock springs at my buddies shop. He has a wall mounted spring compressor that is awesome. Personally, I would not rent a compressor for these springs since i've had the unfortunate opportunity to see one let go from a rental compressor... it was SCARY!

I would get them installed at a garage beforehand, and drop them in your truck yourself.

This.

On a side note, I installed my OME 882's (Heavy duty) and watching our fancy wall mounted spring compressor flex under the tension of the springs almost made for bacon strips in shorts. Just be careful. Get a shop to mount them 1st if you're going to do them yourself.

Have you heard back from him or is he just not interested? I'm expecting the coils to be here hopefully this week.
Tacorossa, would your buddy be interested in doing another set?

Chris has removed himself from the forum. I guess he has a lot going on and didn't have much time to spend on here. He did leave his email in one of the posts in case anyone needed some work done.

I'm sure my buddy wouldn't mind doing another set at all. If you don't hear from Chris, let me know and I'll shoot you a PM with more info on where I got mine done.
