G'day all,

Doing some planning / design on the '90s front bumper... Getting ready to start mocking up... But I have issues with the wife driving around bumperless for a few weeks while I git'r'dun.

Wondering how much the frame & front horns changed between my 87 and the 90 - Can I do the basic mock-up on the 87 then once I'm happy with that move it over to the 90 without having to make massive modifications?

Anyone know? they look similar, they measure pretty close... But - we know how toyota can be sometimes :D

I believe they are fairly close, but looking at bumper manufactures (eg. Trail gear) they list a diff one for 90-95. now whether thats to closer match the body, im not sure.

I think the forward facing bolt holes are the same. Pretty sure the sides are different.

Just drive it with no bumper. it'll be OK. Jost tell her no crashing

try to put the 90s bumper one the 87, see if it fits.

Better yet use my Runner (a 90) as it's not a daily driver and make two bumpers.:D

Got enough steel on hand for 3 - could happen :D

Having the DW drive with no bumper = not gonna happen... I notice in the short time she's had the 90 - she's hooked something backing up... Hit something just over the drivers turn signal, and there's a mystery scrape by the towpoint... Luckily the paint transfer appears to be safety yellow - so probably bollards in parking lots... But still; I hate body work; not going to create more to do :D

Horns are almost always located up front near the grill to optimize your sound.

how did the bumper turn out? got pics? were you able to do a mock up off your 87? i know they are close enough to the same that you should have been able to most of the work for the 90 off of the 87
