View Full Version : Location of CB Install
Hi there, Keith and I completed cb installs in our trucks yesterday and have had a few users asking about mounting location etc. Hopefully the pics work and you get the idea. Let me know if you have any other questions at all. Antenna is a Larsen NMO-27 and radio is a Maxon MCB-30 with external speaker. I ran the wire through the firewall and it dropped down by the pedals, we then ran it behind the pedals and to the passenger side of the center console. Hope the pics help.

I would have mounted the radio where the speaker is located. I have a similar opening in the dash of my 4Runner and to fit it in I opened the back wall to the width of the radio. I added a 90 deg adapter for the antenna cable so that the radio can sit against the heater core. Next time were out come and have a look.

Comtek which is located in the Road King truck stop on Barlow and Pegan, they have lots of models and reasonable prices.

there is a little store called Commercial Radio+CB (or something like that) on 14th street SW, around 13th ave. You can see it from 14th. Its run by a oooold chinese guy and his son, and they have pretty much every CB part/accs. under the sun, and will tell you exactly why *expletive deleted* doesn't work. good prices too, and they even have a selection of record players http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_smile.gif
check it out, you won't be disappointed

Well, I checked out Comtek (the place Tarzan suggested), the lady there was saying that you could get everything that you needed for around 150 bucks. This is on the low end obviously but would include an antanae, the co-ax cable and the CB itself. I don't know a lot about brands or quality or anything to do with CBs really though. I was just in there 'cause it is a couple blocks from my work.
