So the tires that came with my truck aren't the greatest, i've been doing some researche on some tires regarding prices and performance i'm just curious on what you guys would recommend for everyday use and the occasional off road adventure. I'm planing on doing a 3" lift and i believe the factory tires are approximately 31's i've also ordered the all-pro 1.25" wheel spacers.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Frank,
You're correct, stock size rims on a 2nd gen taco are 30.6" in diameter. Since I read in your signature you have a sport model, I am assuming you have 17" rims.
With a 3" lift and 1.25" spacers, you can fit up to 33" tires on stock rims. That's 285/70/R17 in metric. Rubbing may occur on the fenderwell plastics, front mudflaps, and possibly even the bodymounts. Search around the other popular taco forums for more details. Depending on the tires and the lift, rubbing can vary greatly in severity.
A common & popular size in between stock and full-on 33" is 265/70/R17. That gives you about 31.6" in diameter.
A not so common size (available only for 17" rims) is 275/70/R17. BFG has their all-terrains available in this size, firestone also sells an AT in this size. You could even go to a goodyear MTR Kevlar in this size. These are about 32" in diameter. On paper, a pretty nice compromise between stock and 33". The drawback is the size is pretty uncommon and you might have trouble sourcing tires. Ordering them online would be no problem though.
As you go bigger in diameter, you're essentially reducing the effective gear ratio, so your speedo will change, and so will the driving characteristics of the truck. Additionally, you're adding unsprung mass. Both of the above will have an effect on your gas mileage as well.

Hey Essay,
Jreid hit the nail on the head. You also need to figure out what kind of wheeling you're doing with the truck, whether it's trail, the occasional mud bogs then an AT tire is perfect for you. With that said, the BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A KO's are perfect for you. (The one's that are on the rims)

BFG AT, Goodyear Dura Tracs.
Both excellent daily drivers that handle extremely well off road.

Just don't make the mistake of believing that AT tires will replace your need for good winter tires:

Hey don't forget Toyo A/T's they are a great tire. The pricing on them are very reasonable and they have a crap load of different sizes available.

Yep - I dig my Toyo OC AT's.
They get me in and out of whatever I want - 874runnersr5 has been surprised at their off road capability in the past.

I'm surprised to hear two endorsements of the Toyo ATs! I was reading on TireRack and they seem to be a fairly "established" tire (been around awhile), I saw a lot of negative reviews (fast wearing, poor wet traction).
I love how much variety is offered in that tire for sure.
hmmmm!
edit:
Toyo M/T's come in this size/load rating:
LT285/70R16 114P C/6
That's an odd one for sure. Intriguing.
edit2: well good luck finding that size from any dealer haha.
I like how in the A/Ts toyo gives you a selection of load ranges... i.e P-metric, C,D or E.

I have many good things to say about my Bridgestone Revo's. They are exceptional on highway and around town, which is where I spend most of my time. They also get me through all of my offroading adventures with relative ease.
I'm on my second set I liked them so much the first time around!
