so im looking for a set of skids, the allpro skids are lighter, cheaper and easier to install and remove if work is need to be done under the truck but the budbuilt skids are full belly skids which i like the idea of.

Opinions?

Spooky08 has the Bud Built skids and could probably give you good idea on that set up.

I've got the All-Pro set up and it held up to some serious abuse on the Rubicon. They are easy to clean out when they fill with crud and don't hold in moisture/water.

The biggest downfall I see with the Tacoma is the frame will slide over rocks which comes with a longer than normal wheel base.

The most important skids should be
- Front Diff skid
- Transfercase skid
- Frame sliders of somsort
- Rear E-locker skid
- Rear pinion and diff protection.

The plastic gas tank skid works really well even on jagged boulders.

What are your intentions with your Tacoma?

well i have a trd sport so no elocker for me (hopefully a lockright or detroit this spring) but i would like to have full skids on my truck, im looking into do more trail running then rock crawling but will most likely end up in a nasty rock garden at some point in time. hopefully if all goes well, and i can get some time off this summer maybe make a trip to calgary and see what you guys have to offer trail wise.

That sounds pretty good. We'll also be making our way into BC for trail runs as well as one of the CT Team is from the island... Redape (Keith).

The All-Pro's will do the trick but the Bud Built being a full length skid is pretty awesome. Wait till Spooky (Will) jumps on here and gives his thoughts on the Bud Built.

hey ! welcome to the board, yeah like freeze mentioned i have the Bud Built Skid plates including the one for the gas tank, i chose them over the other skids because with the Bud skids they made my Tacoma a flat belly unlike the others though they are a little bit harder to clean out when they get packed up with mud and ice but the trade off is a strong skid plate that goes from the front of my truck right to my gas tank. The only thing that i see being a draw back is the weight of the 4 skid plates, they add up to roughly another 2-300 pounds to the truck and if you have a winch bumper, winch, lights and etc that's a lot of weight but the it's okay the added protection is what i wanted and that what they offered !!!

not to excited about adding another 200-300lbs to my truck so i will probably go with the full set of allpro skids and probably make my own gas tank skid.

thanks guys
