As i was driving to work this morning my truck was running a little bit rough. Thought nothing of it. When i arrived at work it was smoking steam and exhaust out of the exhaust pipe like a banchi and kinda smelt sweet like antifreeze? Headgasket right ? But once i shut it off it wass still smoking from the tailpipe like crazy but wasnt on fire or anything. I waited a minute or two and resrarted it back up and it shot out some liquid and was then fine.
So again i ask Headgasket ? It is a 93 runner with a 3vze bored out and rebuilt with almost 90 000 km on it,and have never had a pronlem with it since??? Further investigation shows me that my rad overflow box is full and the level in my rad is low?
Thanks in advance for any help .

Maybe check under your oil cap to see if it's milky. Even check your oil to see if it's not milky either.
Sounds like headgasket problem.
Your T-stat working? Stick it in a bowl and poor boiling hot water over it to see if it opens.
Sometimes when your overflow is full and your rad is empty, there's pressure coming from engine pushing coolant into the overflow while burning off the rest of the coolant in the rad through the engine.
Coolant pressure test may help provide some answers.

kinda sounds like a blow head gasket to me too. sweet smellin tailpipe is never good. Toss a can of Bar's rad stop leak in it. If the gasket is not too bad that will hold it long enough to get it wherever its going to be fixed (if your not doing it yourself)
Just checked they have some new magic car sales products now. Not that i would ever condone their use, but may get you out of a jam / home from the trail

only one way for the antifreeze to get into your exhaust. So ya |I would say headgasket.

Thanks for all your help guys. I am now looking into a larger engine swap,3.4 or maybe even a 7 mge ? What do you all think would be the best way to go ? Also what are my options of dropping in a diesel engine and what would have to be changed ?
Thanks for your help again...

Lots of info on the 3.4 and 7mg(t)e out there...
Diesel - everything changes... Well almost... You can keep your fuel tank (needs to be flushed), otherwise - pretty much everything :) Typical diesel swap you're doing gearing, transmission, mounts, exhaust, fuel, lines and heating/cooling...
This is where the VW comes in handy - it's a high reving diesel, thus you can keep transmission; and gearing - But you're still stuck with the rest of the fun...

Dont put stop leak in it
trust me.
when i did the head on my surf you could see it clogged all the coolant passages.
put in a 7M just make sure you retorque the head to proper spec.
why dont you just fix your HG?

I will probabaly fix it ? I need a new everyday driver that i can put a baby seat into and the wife can also drive once and a while when we swap vehicles, which wont be to often. Looking for 2001 -2004 dc taco or maybe even a 99 -2004 4runner to pick up ? This will also give me time to figure out what may be the best way to get more power under the hood of my runner as it will be a weekend 4x4 toy only but i still want it to be srteet worthy to and from trail ? If i can't find anything withen a month or so i will just fix it and then continue looking ?
Let me know if anybody finds or comes across a 2001-2004 dc taco or even a nice runner. Thanks again for any help.

So i was poking around my engine and noticed that over the last week of it chillen at my work untouched, it has The ''green slurpy'' thing in the power stearing resevoir also ? Why would that be if the headgasket is gone ?
Thank's again for all your help guy's.
