How do you get the doors to lock with the motor running? Keyless entry won't do it, key in the door won't do it. Don't have or want remote start.
Any way to by pass?

Good question!

I'd wish I'd be able to lock the Tacoma with the remote while it's running for those cold days.

... Don't have or want remote start. ...

Yeah ... I hate the remote start on my truck. I hate when I can warm (or cool in the summer) the truck without even getting near it. I hate that it's locked and alarmed while running. I hate that I can communicate with my truck to make sure all is well.

Wait a tic ... I don't hate those things ... they are all effin' awesome!

Well I hope that you can find a solution to this problem (other than an awesome remote start system). I always wonder why manufacturers go out of their way to make things more complicated than they need to be.

Must be a safety overide to prevent people from locking their keys in the truck while it is running.

My 09 GMC Sierra I had last year could lock with the key fob while the key was in the ignition. I had the key and the key fob on a quick disconnect keychain. I left it running in Fort McMurray on those really cold days. Never tried it with the Tacoma though.

I tried it a few times with the windows down before I started that routine. Now I have to try it with the Tacoma.

I also hate all of the above about my remote starter.

There is not a Toyota that has been made with factory keyless in the last 5 years or so that the keypad will operate while the ignition is on.

Put simply yes there is a way to make it happen but it is so not worth doing.
You would need to find the RF trigger from the keypad in the truck and and use it to trigger a set of relays that have bypassed the door lock module so you can operate the door locks at will.
OR
Put in a keyless entry/remote start system which has the above already done for you.

Oh and these trucks Came with 3 keys..... use another to unlock the truck??

I feel stupid now! Such a simple solution to a real dilemma! Thanks Chris!

you can't?

I can with my remote starter, but maybe the factory fob cannot?

edit: seems it was answered already:)
