"Long Way Round" was a television series documenting the 19,000 mile (31,000 km) journey of Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman from London to New York on motorcycles. They travelled eastwards through Europe and Asia, flew to Alaska and continued by road from there to New York. And "The Long way Down" is were Ewan and Charley rode south through 18 countries from John o' Groats in Scotland to Cape Agulhas in South Africa via Europe and Africa in 2007.

Here is a Youtube link with all the episodes : )

watched the whole series, amazing where they could and couldn't go on those bikes, there was one point somewhere along a border that if they went the wrong way, off course by so much as 10kms they could be killed by roving death hunters... or something like that, sad to see some of the villages they went to that were hit by extreme poverty.

Cool show none the less.

Funny... the only true "car" accident in 31,000 km happens in Calgary when some kid rams into Ewan on the highway.

Isn't that sad?! And the other not so true accident was downtown Calgary when ( I think it was Charlie) was tapped from behind.

Anyone in the club Dual Sport?

As soon as I finish school a BMW GS650 will be purchased.
I may choose a used single cylinder model versus the new dual cylinder ones.

Yeah the singles are better in 650. Plus with the Dakar set up from Touratech is awesome. The new F650GS isn't as well set up out of the box.

Yeah Tim lives behind me. He's the one with the huge Unimog that came out to National's open house in the spring.

Apparently he was going to do up the Unimog to do a similar trip. He had his GS1200 all ready to go in the summer.

I dunno if you remember his old Cruiser that turned monster way back. Wolf359. He had his own site for a while.

Ya I've known Tim a long time - Competed against him a couple of times.. :)

I think there original plan was to take the mog and bikes - but just ended up doing the bike thing - think it was easier logistic wise.

Glad they made er home all safe and sound (Other then Cory's broken foot)
