Need to get new u-bolts for when I swap in my 8" e-locker rear end. I am assuming, because I haven't read differently, that my current 8.4" share the same u-bolt/bracket as the 8"?
Anyways, calling Standens, they don't do u-bolts by vehicle listing, you need dimensions. Does anyone know the dimensions I am looking for?
Thanks,
Ryan

Are you doing a U-bolt flip?

Not at this time. I didn't want to have to figure out the shock mounts.

I appreciate the offer and I would have taken you up on it but I just talked to the part dept and they confirmed that they have the same part number for all 2001-2004 Tacos, regardless of model so the I should be just able to measure my own.
Thanks though,
Ryan

Ok, just measured by u-bolts.
2.5" ID x 7" length x 9/16"
I double-checked with Toyota parts and the same part number is listed for all 2001-2004 tacos, no matter which rear end. So there you go. This despite reading online that the ID of the U-Bolt is 3"...

Mmmm, strange - because mine is definitely 3" ID. Did you measure at the bottom inside the U? The measurements at the tips of the U will not be accurate.

Really??!
Do you have a U-Bolt flip? I do not, just going with the original setup. So the u-bolt is not wrapping the axle tube at all...rather the leafs instead.

Really??!
This is disturbing.
OK, but I'm trying to remember now. On the stock trucks does the U-bolts go around the axle or do they go around the leafsprings?
I did a U-bolt flip, so my measurements are 3" ID, 12" length x 5/8" because the U bolts face upwards around the axle. On yours, I suppose it's possible (just can't remember) that the U bolts face down and go in a paralel plane around the leafsprings in which case they would be 2.5

Yep you did. Hey Taco leafsprings are 2 3/8 wide, so are you sure the U-bolts are 2.5 and not 2 3/8's?

You are right again. Although probably technically a metric size, the springs measure 2 3/8". Got the u-bolts yesterday and while the ones on the truck do measure (at least closer to) 2 1/2", a u-bolt bent with their 2 1/2" die measures more then 2 1/2" so 2 3/8 die bent the right u-bolt.
Thanks for you help,
Ryan
