It would be a good idea if people were actually responsible enough to use the trails properly. I think that joining a group of responsible wheelers to find locations is better. The scenic and hot spot surfing locations is a cool idea though. The trail one not so much IMO.

What a great site and a cool idea. I hope they bring it to Canada as well and add Lowrance to the GPS list. I signed up and poked around the site, I think our club should reach out to them to see if they can add our country. I also had an intro nite at MEC on a cool program called Mapitfirst and if you are a hiker non vehicle outdoors explorer it's well worth a look - http://www.mapitfirst.ca/

True enough responisble use is critical but joining a group is not that easy either. Look at us you need to have a course or two and membership before wheeling with us, so a day out on the trail could take 1-3 days of training over a months time and $240 just to go out and try a trail. Other clubs are also stiffily structured and with good reason too but if you just want to get out safely and try your vehicle on a trail with others this may be an alternative.

There has been a ton of Unofficial runs. Don't need no courses for those. Lately they have been cancelled though due to lack of interest and... maybe Gary and I being too hung over haha.

Unofficial runs are fun and I'm sure when the winter ends we will have lots more. Unofficial runs could also be a good way for people to check out the club members and see abit of what the club is about. I have several friends that ask about the club but the courses and there cost seem to be a stumbling block.

I see your points...to a degree. Publicizing your whereabouts, and where you've been: peer pressure to do things RIGHT, and law enforcement could be watching too. :)

And sometimes conflict with shift-work. Not everyone is off every weekend.

Just saying ;) .
