Hey, so Im looking for some feedback on Walker Evans 2.5" Coilovers for FJ Cruiser or Tacoma Front.
They are currently featured on the all pro website, as a group buy... Kinda got me thinking I could order parts now and then put it all in sometime in the spring... :D
Anyone heard anything about these front Coil overs?

Yeah it was great meeting you, and look forward to seeing you around a bit more! after doing a bit more research, I realized that I don't need full off road racing suspension (ie walker racing) when I can get the OME suspension lift kit (front and rear) or the Toytec ultimate lift kit for around the same price and it will serve my purpose. Now the real question is OME or Toytec lift kits.... LOL!
Here is the link to the Toytec site, and now its time to do a whole lot of reading, and hopefully I can make up my mind and get a kit before next spring! http://www.toyteclifts.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=64&Itemid=72

Really can't go wrong with the OME set up. With the OME 885's/OME shocks front and OME AAL/OME shocks rear I got an amazingly smooth ride on road with really good travel. I did use All-Pro's 1" UCA's which are not 1.25".
OME which is a division of ARB valve their shocks to match their coils to each application. OME's shocks are valved considerably on the heavy side to compensate for a heavier coil/bumper/winch/skids. This provides proper rebound control after going over bumps and dips. Instead of the OME AAL, I'd go with their full leaf pack.
I was able to get 9.5" of travel in the front.

Neubs on Tacomaworld can provide a discount code good for about 7% off of anything toytec sells. So if you were thinking toytec coilovers or OME, that's something to be aware of.
I know Wheeler's out of CO is well respected around these parts, and they will put together an OME Kit for you at a price fairly competitive to the package that Toyota of Dallas sells: http://www.trdparts4u.com/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=-7205. Just ask.
For an extra charge Wheeler's can also sell you assembled struts with proper toyota top plates.
Personally, I am looking seriously at the group buy toytec is putting on right now, for the eibach coils and 5100 dampers.

Did you have any issue with the weight of the all pro and winch on the 885? I am going to upgrade to the all pro bumper by next spring (especially after looking at how beat up my stock one is right now) and I am wondering if I should go with the 886 as they are set up 200+ extra weight.

The OME is designed for only 1.75" of lift, which after having everything on the truck the coils settled just under 2".
The 885's are for an access cab with a bumper/winch and skids
The 886's are for a double cab with a bumper/winch and skids
I didn't have any issues with all the weight on the front end of my Tacoma with the OME it actually performed better as it was at the proper pre-load for the coil.

Hey Shayne, I'm thinking of OME for the FJ too.
FRONT (Want the extra high after bumper and winch)
- N140S Front Shocks
- 886 Front Coil Spring
- Front top plate spacers
REAR (Pulling a trailer with 500lbs tongue weight and a bunch of camping gear in the back)
- OME N142 Rear Shocks
- OME 896 Rear Coil
Now were to buy it and get it installed?

This is the set up I'm thinking about:
Front
OME885 Old Man Emu Front Coils (2)/ Tacoma
OME90000 OME NITROCHARGER SPORT Front Shocks 2
Rear
OMEN182 OLD MAN EMU Rear Shocks (2) for 2005+ Tacoma
CS055R OME EMU DAKAR Leaf Springs Set of 2
And then all the goodies it will take to get it set up.
I would probably buy it off of one of the american sites like trdparts4u.com, or through a shop that can get me everything I need in one shot. As for install I was thinking about talking to Chris and getting him to do it while I learned :)
I just need to do a bit more research to make sure I get all the parts I need in one shot so that I dont have any issues during the install. Ohh and I need more money to buy all the stuff!!
When are you thinking about doing your FJ Jeff?

Thanks Nathan... yeah was checking out their site earlier. Looks like a good place to start. Do you know anyone who have bought from them? I think they're in Oregon.

I have ... they are awesome to deal with. The one strange thing is that they can't quote shipping in their webcheckout. So ... after you "buy" the item, they get back to you with a shipping quote and see if everything is still okay on your end. After dealing with that one time ... I've switched to phone orders.
Oh ... and they ship with UPS. So there are brokerage fees. A few ways around it though. If the items you are getting from them are large and need to be shipped by ground, have them include the brokerage in the shipping costs. Or ship to Montana and pick it up yourself. Here is the one most people don't know though. It is sometimes cheaper to get things sent UPS Air. It costs more for the shipping but they are really nice  and waive the brokerage fees.

I too ordered some OME rear shocks from them. I did the ground shipping thing. I didn't have any problems.

I purchased my OME lift through Metal Tech out of the states. At the the time they had the best pricing. There customer service was great and shipping was very reasonable. I went with the medium setup front and rear. Easy to install. Love the ride quality.
